By the way, the most developed nations and whom many Singaporeans are working for in the MNCs are the most diverse nations. I do not see any Caucasians, Koreans, Taiwanese, Japanese etc working for Singaporeans or Singapore companies. This is how 'great' Singaporeans has become under PAP. |

Re: Say “NO” To Singapore Transport Fare Increase
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/bus--train-...092506372.html
With the fare hike, there will be an increase of about S$53.5 million a year in fare revenue for the two public transport operators (PTOs), SBS Transit and SMRT. Ee said while the fare increase will boost the companies’ financials – helping them have the money to improve service standards, raise wages for staff and increase bus fleets – the two PTOs are required to set aside a part of the additional revenue to the public transport (PT) fund to fulfill their public service roles. In total, the two PTOs will contribute a one-off total sum of S$11.58 million to the PT fund, compared with previous years when they typically contribute under a million dollars. $53.5 million... so where does the money goes to? our minister pocket lor i guess....

Re: Say “NO” To Singapore Transport Fare Increase
If u hv the time, listen to this full interview by Ex Minister George Yeo after his defeat to WP for Aljunied GRC.
In it, you will hear him HINT but not want to elaborate on the fact that even he feels MIW must reform. By hearing this interview, it also gives one some form of hints or understanding on why he quit politics after this. Have a listen. Remember, politicians will never say anything outright or straight in your face, everything they say is 话里有话. If you use this concept to listen to his speech, you will be very enlightened

I heard stories like retired PAP MPs are given non-exec directorships at GLCs worth 5 digits a month doing nothing and not even going to office. The wonder SBS and SMRT need to raise prices. |

Re: Say “NO” To Singapore Transport Fare Increase
http://wp.sg/2014/01/workers-party-s...view-exercise/
Workers’ Party Statement on Public Transport Fare Review Exercise The Workers’ Party (WP) welcomes the new and enhanced concession schemes to make public transport more affordable for people with disabilities, senior citizens, low-wage workers, students and full-time national servicemen. These groups will finally enjoy some overdue relief for their travel needs, for which the public and the WP have lobbied for years. The concessions, however, should not be used as a sweetener to make the latest fare increases palatable. With an initial increase of 3.2% in 2014 and an increase of 3.4% rolled over to the fare review exercise next year, this could mean a heftier increase in 2015. We are concerned that the majority of the commuters may still experience a very large overall fare increase of up to 6.6% in the next two years. This latest round of fare hikes comes on the back of a substantial $1.1 billion government subsidy in our public transportation system through the Bus Services Enhancement Fund (BSEF) last year. The fare hike has also come despite train breakdowns having become a regular affair, further compounding the frustrations of commuters, who are frequently affected by such service quality and reliability lapses. We are disappointed that the fare hike will take place three months before the concession schemes for low-wage workers and people with disabilities are to be implemented. We call for the fare hike to be delayed until the new concession schemes are implemented. The WP believes that public transport should be provided as a public good and not for profit. Service quality, reliability and fare affordability should come before the need to ensure the profitability of PTOs. |
