$100K of saving is possible in 10 years, but it is too long. I was in the uniform service for 10years also. My calculation:
$600/mth * 12 * 10 years = $72,000
graduity for 10 years service = $3000 (last drawn pay) * 10 (years of service) = $30,000
Total = $102,000

I lost the oppotunity to save the $102,000. But I enjoyed my life in my 20's when I and young, energetic and fit. No problem in hooking up alot local SYT.

Yeah, in this modern world. I dun mind having these dreams, if its that good! Can motivate me during the day to be really productive. After coming back to singapore, during this 1 year, I counted there were at least 3 times when I actually laugh myself out of my dreams.

But to give a point on what TS said, bearing in mind that this is nothing to do with dummies hooking up with 'sweet local girls', I have a friend whose father bought a large unit at holland v sometime in the 80s. It is now rented to a restaurant (means considerable size unit). Monthly income can support the entire family (4 grown ups plus mother). The unit probably cost only one month's current rental at the time they bought it.
