Yes! And the sad thing about this exoneration of the good old things is that it's happening to our overseas playgrounds as well. From the very beginning where the literal "Paradise on Earth" 天上人间 in Beijing to the "China Geylang in Massive Scale" Zhuhai to the "Play like an Emperor" in CP...sadly they are all distant memories now.. Only good thing is the other overseas playground like Thailand, Indo, Cambodia, Myanmar etc are still going strong or developing well. It feels like the hawker centres vs restaurants debate - good old days like hawker centres where the foods are nice, affordable pricing and sincere down-to-earth hawker uncles/aunties where we could patronise and develop a cordial relationships with them. Nowadays it's like the sprouting of fine dining where although you have nicer settings and dedicated services but the services rendered feel like that from a robot and foods are although nicely presented but no guarantee of quality and taste. Best part is the madatory 10% service charge no matter you like it or not! Even the government is building a new hawker centre now while we can only continue to forage for whatever is available in the market for us right now haha...
