I will be in Shanghai after the Golden Week of May..... Wonder if the bro's who know me wanna meet up in MAxxxxxxx along Mao Ming Nan Lu and drink Heineken and Black Label with me again??? KTV FRs
A small group of SG clients came to town a few days ago and I took them to 3 KTVs on 3 consecutive nights. I'm still recovering from it all but I'd like to share some info with samsters here; primarily in respect of Tian Shang Ren Jian. The brief FRs are merely in chronological order - and have no other significance. 1) LING YANG HAI TAN at 58 Dapu Road This is not a high-end joint; the decor is nice enough though not grand and pretentious - there're more than 60 rooms here. The mamasan (a "friend") took care of us rather well and (this isn't the only place which does it) covered our expenses above the minimum room rate so that we ended up paying just the minimum. In the middle of the evening, our assigned waitress came to me to ask if we wished to "control" our expenses. I asked her what she meant and she replied that 2 of our hostesses ordered some food. Although I told her that was fine with us, the waitress patiently recited the food order (without my asking) and suggested a reduction of the servings. I readily agreed. Min. room rate: RMB1,080.00 (5 pax) Tips: RMB300 each (standard) Quality of hostess: Good (but as usual, go early) Overall: Recommended - please PM me for mamasan's contact and other details.

2) TIAN SHANG REN JIAN
This place, known to several regular samsters here, wasn't on my itinerary because of the poor reviews. However someone in our group wanted to give it a try (his friend gave him a mamasan's contact) and off we went. The decor wasn't as grand as I'd expected (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but the girl-quality wasn't as high as I'd expected either (which is essentially not a good thing). It took us a long time to pick acceptable companions. Service was disappointing and I had no alternative but to take them to task - although the mamsan apologised, the impression I got was that she didn't give a damn. In brief, my complaints were as follows:- a) Unlike other joints, there were 2 waitresses per room; however, there were several occasions when neither of them were present in the room. b) The girls would leave the room to answer phone calls or whatever reason and take ages to return. They'd leave without even having the basic courtesy of informing us. c) The mamasan merely drank a toast with us at the beginning of the evening and never returned until I summoned her to voice my displeasure. In other words, she didn't take care of us (which, pardon me if I'm wrong, is her job isn't it?). Min. room rate: RMB1,800.00 (5 pax) Quality of girls: Disappointing Overall: Not recommended.

3) JIN SE DA DI at 1148, Changshou Road
This joint is reputedly the largest KTV in Asia. There're a few different categories of girls (hence different prices); grouped not just according to quality of appearance but also according to type of service/attire. On the 5th level are girls dressed in traditional Chinese slips (sorry I can't remember what they're called), miniskirts and nothing else. The tip is RMB500. Mamsan is a bubbly, nice lady who'd take care of you and take into account your wishes/desires. Min. room rate: RMB2,080 (5 pax, rate varies according to chosen category) Tips: RMB300 to RMB500 (depends on chosen category) Quality of girls: Good to delicious Overall: Recommended; please PM me for mamsan's contact and other details.
