Re: Zika has arrived in Singapore
Zika re-emerges: First thing new patient did was to inform pregnant neighbour
By Cynthia Choo Published: 2:48 PM, March 30, 2017 Updated: 3:43 PM, March 30, 2017 SINGAPORE – When Simon Place resident Ms Yeoh was informed by the National Environment Agency (NEA) on Tuesday (March 28) that she and her husband have been diagnosed with the Zika virus, the first thing she did was to inform her pregnant neighbour and ask her if she wanted to move out for a few days. The lady living next door, who was three to four months along, moved out on the same day. The couple proceeded to inform the rest of their neighbours so they could take the necessary precautions. The area in Hougang where the housewife and her husband, both in their 40s, live became the first Zika cluster reported this year. Ms Yeoh, who declined to give her full name, told TODAY they first discovered red spots on their hands and neck last Thursday, together with high fevers which reached 38 degree Celsius. That prompted them to visit a 24-hour clinic in Hougang. “The doctor looked at my spots and suspected that it might be a case of rashes or bacteria infection. But knowing that my area was a high-risk area for dengue, I decided to get screened for dengue and Zika as well,” Ms Yeoh said. So when the NEA called her to confirm the Zika diagnosis, she was not surprised as she had already suspected that they were infected either by dengue or Zika. “I had already taken precautions and not left the house ever since going to the doctors,” she said. Two hours after the call, the agency’s officials were at her apartment for inspection. But she said they did not find any breeding spots or larvae. Due to their area being at high-risk for dengue, Ms Yeoh said they had been taking precautions to ensure that there are no stale puddles of water near their plants or in their home. continue reading here : http://m.todayonline.com/singapore/z...nant-neighbour

Fogging at Simon Place day after Zika cluster discovered
By Elizabeth Neo and Vimita Mohandas Posted 30 Mar 2017 13:00 Updated 30 Mar 2017 15:04 SINGAPORE: A day after the first Zika cluster reported this year was confirmed at Simon Place in Hougang, National Environment Agency (NEA) officers conducted thermal fogging in the housing estate. On Wednesday (Mar 29), the NEA confirmed that two members of a household in the estate were infected by the virus. An NEA notice posted in the area stated that the agency will conduct thermal fogging of outdoor areas in the neighbourhood to get rid of adult mosquitoes which could spread the virus. NEA officers were also seen going from door to door at about 9am informing residents that the fogging would start soon. Aljunied GRC Member of Parliament (MP) Sylvia Lim spoke to reporters on Thursday morning during a visit to the area during NEA’s operations. "Residents living in this area are quite used to clusters of mosquito-borne diseases - in the last few years, we've also had dengue outbreaks. So they are quite resilient, they generally know what to do and how to protect themselves," she said. continue reading here : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...d/3637412.html

Re: Zika has arrived in Singapore
Two new cases of Zika confirmed at Flower Road, Hendry Close
Posted 06 Apr 2017 20:14 Updated 07 Apr 2017 00:07 SINGAPORE: Two cases of locally transmitted Zika virus infection have been confirmed at Flower Road and Hendry Close, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) on Thursday (Apr 6). That is close to Singapore's first Zika cluster of this year at Simon Place in Hougang, which was reported last Wednesday. Both of the new cases are residents in the area, said NEA, adding that operations to control the mosquito population are being carried out. It urged residents to maintain vigilance, "as there could still be asymptomatic or mild, undiagnosed cases which might result in further transmission of the virus" if there are mosquitoes in the area. As most people infected with Zika do not develop symptoms, NEA said this heightens the risk of a resurgence of the virus as "it may take some time before a reintroduced Zika virus is detected". continue reading here : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...e/3657942.html Another problem not solved . People please stay safe. Kill the dam mosquitoes . Destroy stagnant water.

Re: Zika has arrived in Singapore
Third Zika cluster of the year emerges at Poh Huat Terrace, Terrasse Lane
Published: 8:28 PM, April 11, 2017 Updated: 11:46 PM, April 11, 2017 SINGAPORE — The third cluster of locally transmitted Zika virus infection in Singapore this year has been reported at the Poh Huat Terrace and Terrasse Lane area. According to the National Environment Agency (NEA) on Tuesday (April 11), the case involves two residents living in the area near the junction of Hougang Avenue 2 and Yio Chu Kang Road. This latest development comes on the day the year's first Zika cluster at the nearby Simon Place was closed. The Simon Place cluster, which is less than 2km away, was first discovered two weeks ago. The second Zika cluster of 2017, which was reported last week, is also nearby at Flower Road/Hendry Close. Residents staying around Poh Huat Terrace and Terrasse Lane have been notified of the latest case on Tuesday, and vector control operations are underway, said NEA. Prior to the latest two cases, NEA officers were already conducting preventive inspections in the vicinity. Vector control operations will continue at the Flower Road / Hendry Close cluster, NEA said. The Simon Place cluster will also continue to be kept under surveillance. Residents are requested to allow NEA officers to carry out inspections and indoor spraying of their homes. NEA also urged all residents and stakeholders to maintain vigilance and take immediate steps to eliminate mosquito breeding habitats by practising the 5-step Mozzie Wipeout. continue reading here : http://www.todayonline.com/singapore...-terrasse-lane Another problem not solve. Please stay safe everyone .

Re: Zika has arrived in Singapore
3 new Zika cases reported, with 2 at Glasgow Road
Published: 8:12 PM, April 20, 2017 Updated: 8:14 PM, April 20, 2017 SINGAPORE – Three new cases of Zika infections have been reported this week, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) on its website. Two were reported in the Glasgow Road area, with the third case reported at the Poh Huat Road West (Nouvelle Pk)/Poh Huat Terrace/Terrasse Lane (Terrasse) cluster. Glasgow Road is adjacent to Flower Road, where previous Zika cases had been reported earlier this month. The first cluster in the area, at Simon Place, has been closed. NEA has urged all residents and stakeholders to maintain vigilance and take immediate steps to eliminate mosquito breeding habitats by practising the 5-step Mozzie Wipeout. Most people infected with the Zika virus do not develop symptoms, which heightens the risk of a Zika resurgence as it may take some time before a reintroduced Zika virus is detected. continue reading here : http://www.todayonline.com/singapore...2-glasgow-road Tell you to destroy the Aedes mosquito population still don't do it . haiz. ![]()
