Hi bros,
Would like to seek some advice. My viet bu, went going back in early June time was questioned by ica and have 10 fingerprints recorded cos she don't understand their questions.
Now we are planning for rom in singapore. I called ica regarding ltvp matters and Ica advised me to fly in with her when arriving in sg in case she gets stopped by ica.
My question is what is this 10 fingerprints for and how to defend her when ica stop her again? I prepared our rom appointment in her passport just in case.
Hope someone can share any experience they have. My viet bu is tourist btw. She was recommended by my friend. Not a fl.
Thanks,
Loster
Heard now if gals was stop by immigration when going back, and have their thumbprint taken, they cannot re enter singapore. I do not know hhow true this is. Need some firm answer from bros who have gf trying to come back then we will know.

No need to worry. Just fly in with her when you are going for ROM. It should be fine. Please get ready your ROM letter too. It is very important. It is just a normal checking

No such things. Don't believe that taking thumbs print; they will not able to enter Singapore for next visits cos my bx had been asking to take thumb print each time when she rtn to vn. I ask why to the ICA; they just say normal checking; need not to be worry.

ICA won't because u dun understand English n ban u from entering SG. I am curious, how u communicate with your wife to be?? U dun even understand "ba xa"?? ROM appointment does not guarantee entry into SG. Your gf needs a lot of lucks to come into SG.

It is security measure for all foreigners entering and exiting SG to have fingerprints check. If u had an offence then chances of entering SG is slim.

I have to salute u for being brave to marry someone whom u can't communicate well. Some might argue differently. It is your life, all the best. Your marriage path will be tough internally among both families and externally, ICA.

thanks for the input, really need to get more thoughts from the seniors here as shifting base is something very troublesome that i hope to get right first time round . Someone say that Singaporeans cannot do visa run on a monthly basis to remain in vietnam , will appreciate if someone can enlighten me on this subject
I suggest you visit Vietnam yourself. Take a good look and see if you like it there. Never base on hearsay. Try to find out yourself.
If cannot understand or speak Vietnamese then start learning.
If you shift base because of money problem then you are not going to survive there. You will never get a job there. Or even you get a job your salary will be not enough to cover your lifestyle.
If you are below 40 and thinking of staying in Vietnam then you will not be there long too.
If you have a fully paid min 3-room HDB flat then you can stay in Vietnam as long as you can rent out your HDB flat.
There are many things to answer and not sure what you want to answer.
Above my 2000 dongs worth.

Bro, what the seniors replied are true.
I will not dare to marry a Vietnamese wife if I don't understand tieng viet. Never rely on the girl speaking foreign language.
Ask yourself, why the Viet girls learn how to speak foreign language? So the girls who speak English will attract caucasian who speaks English. Those girls who speak Mandarin will attract Taiwanese, PRC men. Singaporeans and Malaysians will be part of the group.
If you read this thread you will understand there were many cases highlighting various problems.
Above are my 2000 dongs worth.

I know there is petty crime n lots of bag snatching in the tourist areas with most people who have stayed there for more than 9 months reporting that they have had their phones or laptops stolen n there is no way to avoid it but most people are saying its relatively low (perhaps cos they are used to it) n are commennting that traffic accidents is a more worrying issue .
Being a singaporean, if we choose not to stay in sg , then i'm afraid there are not many good options for us . Malaysia is visa friendly but crime is rife with many residential areas being repeatedly burgled , u also have car jacking n kidnapping which is really more scary . Australia is ok but is rascist, thailand has toughen up its immigration policies lately .
despite repeated attemptes by the seniors here to let fellow bros know of the perils in marrying viet girls, many sgporeans still persist in doing so , its not that they are not aware but most still choose this route due to the lack of good options .
If i were a white, then of course there is an added appeal in staying in sg as it'll be easy to land local women, the same factor comes into play for sg guys who frequent vietnam as we can still appeal to the local viet women at the moment, how long will this appeal persist would depend on how fast local affluence is rising.
obviously, if i am married n have kids in sg, then i'll probably have to be resigned to staying there at least till the kids have finished schooling but if given an option, then i will have to consider staying elsewhere as sg is a nice but expensive (n thus stressful) place to stay in at least for me

bro, thanks for the input, what you say is truly right .i've visited vietnam many times in the past but only on business trips n i feel that my knwledge of the place cannot compare to the many bros here, i may have developed a bias too, that's the reason i seek wisdom from the bros here to better guide myself .
I am fortunate to have a paid up pad n sg n some fixed income so will not have a problem sustaining myself as long as i do not do anything stupid, but of course there is a negative feeling that its hard for a normal person to earn money in vn n the rate of inflation there looks to be unreasonably high .

Often many dun know what they wanted? So posting generally is no use. How many dare to take the plunge.
Go stay longer something like a few months. After each month can exit and go back again. The answer will be clearer. Best try to live like a local Viet by renting a room or apartment.
