[GNSin]

GN: “You know that doesn’t change anything, right?”
YQ: (pouting)
GN: “Currently we can only be friends with benefits. Means when you have the need, I can be there to give you some fun if I am available. Same goes for me. If I need, I will find you.”

Holding her arms, I raised her up away from my shoulder and looked hard at her expression looking for a response. YQ unwillingly nodded in agreement. We hugged and had another round in the living room before I sent her back to the hostel. On the way back after dropping YQ, MM called checking on me. Lucky me. The rest of the week and month was boring. MM shifted into her new place, YQ and XL went over a couple of times to study. The girls got busy with studies when their official semester started. I went back to work with little progress on my sales again. It’s going to be end of the quarter. Although I scored the big sales of MM’s unit, I need to start farming for new deals for the next quarter sales target. Fun times were occasional, like once a week or so, with MM and YQ separately due to busy schedule with work and the girl’s on their studies.
Such arrangements and mood of living went on like for another 2 months. I was still in the office closing a deal for a customer on a 3 bedroom flat, when MM called.

MM: “Hello baby, still busy with work?”
GN: “Yes dear. I need to put up the papers by tomorrow afternoon. If not it will be in time to close the deal. Why?”
MM: ”Daddy have been asking about you. Say very long didn’t see you. Asking if you are free tonight for dinner with him.”
GN: “Sure. I do my best to complete by 7pm? Slightly later dinner ok?”
MM: (Cheerfully) “Ok! We just have dinner nearby at city hall swissotel? I will take a stroll with my dad over, so you go there direct.”
GN: “Ok. Sure no need to fetch you all?”
MM: “No need. My dad need the exercise.”
GN: “Haha. Ok sure. See you there.”

I went back to work and at a blink of the eye, it’s already 630pm. I have no choice, but to leave the rest of the work till tomorrow. Packed up and zoomed down to the Szechuan restaurant at swissotel. I made it just in time, 705pm. I was led to the vip room. 李总 and MM was already there. To my surprise, XL was there as well.

GN: “伯父，long time no see. How are you?”
李总: “Good. How about you? Heard you are working very hard till you have no time for my girl.”
GN: (Smiling in awkwardness) ”Yes, I have tried my best to meet and accompany her as much as I can. She have been busy with studies and I didn’t want to disturb her as well”
李总: “Haha, relax. No need to explain. 男人以事业为重. I understand it perfectly.”
MM: (Staring at me) “Hello baby! You notice I am here?”
GN: (Quickly walk over to MM and gave her a peck) “Yes, of course. Must assure your dad you are still in good hands here. XL was studying with you so she joined us? YQ didn’t come?”

MM kept quiet and so did XL. Sensing something wrong, I broke the silence and “swallowed” my own questions.

GN: “Have you all ordered? Dear, what you feel like eating?”
MM: “Don’t feel like ordering, so the captain helped to order.”
GN: “Oic. Ok. 伯父, want to have a drink? If you don’t mind, I will order a beer. It’s been a hot day.” 李总waved indicating for me to go ahead. I signaled waiter and ordered a beer.
李总: “I heard from MM, work have not been very smooth sailing?”
GN: “Yes, this Q is slower and our market here have been very competitive.”
李总: “I see. Pass me a few of your name card. I have a few friends that I can recommend you. They wish to buy a unit here as well.”
GN: “Oh is it! That’s great.”

The dinner went on normally. While I chatted with李总, MM was rattling on, gossiping with XL about school. After dinner ended, I offered to send李总 back before I send the girls.

李总: “Its ok, I will take a walk back and you drank a few beers so don’t be so troublesome turning around.”
XL: “Ya. You go ahead and send MM back. I can accompany uncle back and take a cab home at the hotel lobby.”
MM: “Ya, baby. It’s ok. Daddy needs the exercise. Bye daddy. Be careful.”
GN: “Ok. Bye 伯父.”

MM held onto my hands and we walked to the carpark. I was waiting for MM to explain what happened, but that didn’t come till we boarded the car.

GN: “What was that about?”
MM: (Broke into laughter) “Ha ha ha ha… I was seeing how long you can last not to “kay po”.”
Yes. MM picked up a few singlish words and this is one of them.
GN: “Ok. I kaypo can? Happy?”
MM: (Smiling cheekily) “Yes.”
GN: “So?”
MM: “So what do I get from telling you?”
GN: (It’s a battle of who give in first) “Nothing. You let me know when you feel like then”
MM: (pouting) “Cannot like that. You give me something in return then I tell you the full story.”
GN: “You so eager to tell me and yet I have to give you something.”
MM in silence…………
