Bro,

I think Spurs may be challenging for 3rd & 4th at the end of the season, but it is unrealistic to say we can challenge the title unless both Man U and Man City has some mishap/s.

1) Spurs will need to be in the UCL to attract better players before challenging for the title because Spurs does not have the $$$ power like Man U and Man City.
2) Spurs need a few more years of constant UCL participation before being able to be considered title challengers.

Hopefully, we can make it with Harry around because he has really turn us around from a certain Juan De Ramos.

Hopefully, Harry will stay as our manager. And, hopefully, Harry can be healthier.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

West Brom 1 Spurs 3
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report/_/id/318190?cc=4716

Not an impressive 1st half, in fact almost lost it. Better 2nd half display, but again too many chances gone amiss, not good against better opposition like Man U, Man City, Chelski and etc...

Both Modric and VDV out has really put us out of the creative department. Harry's presence help the team to play better. Just hope that we can have him for a long long time to come.

Man U draws, 30 pts, +17goals;
Newcastle draws, 26 pts, +7goals;
Chelski wins, 25 pts, +11goals;
Arsenal draws, 23 pts, +3goals.

Liverpool v Man City tonite.
Hopefully, Liverpool can win or at least draw.

Spurs is third at the moment with 28 pts, +10goals. Hopefully, we can improve further.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

This is how the table looks after Man City's draw with Liverpool:
Man City draws, 35pts, +31goals;
Man U draws, 30 pts, +17goals;
Tottenham wins, 28pts, +10goals (1 game in-hand);
Newcastle draws, 26 pts, +7goals;
Chelski wins, 25 pts, +11goals;
Liverpool draws, 23pts, +5goals; and
Arsenal draws, 23 pts, +3goals.

Till Christmas, we still need to face Chelski which will be a tough match. We also have the tough fixture period from 22 Jan 12 to 24 Mar 12, which will decide where we are going to end the season.

So I think it is too early to rate Spurs as title challenger as there is still a long way to go, but I believe this is a good position to be in now and we have a great great chance to end the season within the top 4 if not top 3 provided we play better by killing-off when opportunity arise plus keeping clean sheets.

This season looks promising, for now. Hopefully, it will be like that or better than this at the end of the season.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker have paid tribute to Gary Speed following the tragic passing of the Wales manager on Sunday morning.

Gareth is a key member of the Wales team managed by Speed who won their last four games and optimism was high ahead of the qualification period for the next World Cup, while Kyle's association with the Premier League icon, who made 535 appearances in the competition, came at Sheffield United where Speed played and coached before taking over as manager.

"It was a massive shock, I don't think anybody ever thought anything like this would happen," said Gareth this morning. "Everyone is devastated and it is a massive loss to everyone in football.

"It is a tragedy, everyone still can't get their head around it and all our condolences go out to his family and his kids. It is a hard time," added Gareth, who says himself and his Wales teammates will give their all to honour Speed's memory.

"We were on the up, he changed the way we play and the whole mentality of our game. It is a massive loss, but we will try and carry on the best we can in his honour."

Kyle described working with Speed as a young player at Sheffield United as a privilege.
"I heard the news yesterday morning when my mum called me and I was gutted," said the full-back. "I worked with him at Sheffield United where he was a coach and it was a big step for me in my playing career. He was exactly as he came across, he was fantastic and it was a privilege to know him.

"My thoughts are with his sons and his family, my heart goes out to them. He was a great guy and this is a sad time."

Everyone at the Club joins Gareth and Kyle in sending our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gary Speed.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

Spurs 1 PAOK 2
Spurs facing elimination:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...nation?cc=4716
We need PAOK to win against Rubin at home and we need to win big in the last match away. Very tough, very very tough with our strikers converting 2-3 chances out of 12-18 shots. Even tougher with a leaky defence.

Not conceding goals, we didn't.
We may need to have some great ex-defender in the coaching staff to pin-point those area that are leaking and leaking and leaking.

Stop wasting opportunities, we didn't.
We have Joe Jordan, Clive Allen, Les Ferdinand and Tim Sherwood in the coaching staff. We can't score by camping in the opposition half and with them down to 10 man? Did we work on it (sharpness and instinctive action towards scoring)?

We only have ourselves to blame if we gets eliminated. We are simply not good enough. Maybe, and really maybe, it is a blessing in disguise if we get eliminated:
1) Silverware
We have to win some silverware this season, maybe it is time to concentrate on EPL and FA Cup, the only two competition we can get silverware. EPL, I think unlikely as Spurs has a tradition of running out of steam (just like this match against PAOK). FA Cup, maybe, if we concentrate and we can be in for a chance in a Cup competition that we have a rich history. Moreover, it is 2011, we tend to win trophies with the year ending in 1's.
2) UCL Qualification
With the UEL cramp fixture in between the EPL and cup competitions, it may hinder our qualification for UCL next season. Considering Arsenal and Liverpool back in form and the injured Chelski ready to bounce back anytime, it may be more advisable to miss out on UEL now.

Hopefully, we can get the best of the UEL situation.

Bro,

Neither do I. Looking on the bright side, it is the fringe players playing with only a couple of 1st team players in this team. However, if we looked at the flip side, it only tell us that our fringe players are not up to par yet.

Hence, I think it is not appropriate to talk about Anelka now:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...ka-bid?cc=4716

I do not want Spurs to have lots of ex-greats in the 1st team causing the good enough fringe/youth players not being able to break through. This is only signal of a spiral downwards as the continuation of fresh players is not fast enough.

Hopefully, Harry and Daniel know what they are doing.

Bro,

I have the same sentiment too. I believe Spurs can do very well in EPL and qualify for UCL if they exit from UEL. Probably 3rd, I think 2nd at the end of the season is asking too much.

Spurs 3 Bolton 0:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report/_/id/317976?cc=4716

Good displace of attacking football by Spurs, harsh red card for Gary Cahill, great goalkeeping by Jaaskelainen.

Again, Spurs strikers are not firing well enough to score more goals. The defence looks okay against Bolton, but had a few little scary moments when passing the ball too much.

Hopefully, Harry can tidy up all the loose ends before playing Chelski.

Bro,

Same sentiment here. The way we perform so far proves our ambition to challenge for a UCL position and, to me, I think Spurs has done themselves proud so far. Having said that, it is still early in the season, for Spurs, we need to get pass March 12 before the path towards the end of the season is clearer.

Look's like Harry got half of his wishes, i.e. Man City fail to qualify for last 16 in UCL, but the other half of his wish can only come true if Spurs fail in UEL.

For me, as long as Spurs can get into UCL next year, I am happy.
If they can win the FA Cup as well, I am happier.
And if they can qualify for UCL as third or higher, it is,by far, my happiest time supporting them.
Bro, do you think I'm asking too much?

Bro, strange enuff. This is 2011...
