Few years ago, the exchange rate for US to Sing dollar was about US$1 : S$1.45.
But due to strong and stable of the sing dollar over the years, as can be seen in today's rate of US$1 : S$1.24.

As the ringgit ever used to be pegged to the US dollar, the ringgit will most likely follow the US dollar. Therefore in a way sing dollar will keep strengthening against the ringgit.

Between 1995 and 1997, the ringgit was trading as a free float currency at around 2.50 to the U.S. dollar before dipping to under 3.80 to the dollar by the end of 1997, following the year's Asian financial crisis. For the first half of 1998, the currency fluctuated between 3.80 and 4.40 to the dollar before Bank Negara Malaysia pegged the ringgit to the US dollar in 1998, maintaining its 3.80 to the dollar value for almost seven years, while remaining floated against other currencies.

The ringgit lost 50% of its value against the US dollar between 1997 and 1998 and suffered general depreciation against other currencies between year 2001 and 2005. After that until now, the ringgit has yet to regain its value against the Singapore dollar (2.07 to 2.45 )

2011 - RM 255 is my guess. Any bro know any one who bought/invested in a big item in Malaysia long ago and realise that its value vis a vis our S$ has been decreasing over time? Then we probably should not keep our money in Ringgit.

It is attractive for Singaporeans to retire in Malaysia or Thailand. Thailand is cheaper than Malaysia. And it is attractive for Malaysians to work in Singapore and spend in Malaysia.

Any bro posting a location of a money changer, Bukit I----, remember to include whether it is in Singapore, JB, KL or Malaysia.

I got RM244.60 to S$100 from a Indian $ changer at People Park Complex on 22/6/11. The ex-rate as reported in today's news is S$1 to RM 2.461, with this rate, probably you can get RM245 to S$100.

Actually we can have the best of both world or even 3 world.

Earn money in s'pore. Settle down in msia. Enjoy sex in Indonesia/Thailand.

1) Work in s'pore earn sing dollar until you save enough for retirement. e.g. enough cash, hugh cpf saving and maybe buy a property.

Keep your money in sing dollar because will not depreciate over time.

2) When you are ready to retire, withdraw your cpf, sell or rent out your property and bring your saving, go to malaysia look for a place that you like to permanently settle down e.g. JB, melaka, KL, Ipoh or Penang.

Buy a msia freehold landed house (unlike hdb flat 99years) and a msia "no expiry date" big car (unlike coe 10years) to enjoy the lifestyle which you never had a chance to enjoy in s'pore.

Also, you are able to enjoy more affordable rates in msia massage parlours and hotel HC for dirty massage as compare to s'pore.

If you are singaporean or foreigner, you can join malaysia my second home programme to get 10 years long term visit pass to retire in msia and thereafter can renew again.

3) Occasionally, maybe once a month, from JB Stulang Laut ferry terminal or S'pore Harbourfront/Tanah Merah ferry terminal can go to Batam, Tanjong Pinang or Balai for a sex tour - to call for cewek overnight for 2 or 3 nites to enjoy the unlimited sex, cheap food, cheap hotel, cheap bonk, cheap shopping, cheap massage, and delicious indonesian food which you can't experience in s'pore or msia.

For bros who like tomyam can fly tiger airway to hatyai, where everything are so cheap there ranging from chicks, food, hotel, shopping, massage,etc.

Indonesia and thailand are definitely cheaper, has more variety of girls to choose from and a more enjoyable place to cheong than in m'sia.
