Hotel81 cheats, dont pay EXTRA for big/good room

1. Interestingly, I find this mentality of most Singaporeans puzzling - why are they so afraid to clarify matters they feel so strongly about??

2. Its perfectly fine (in my humble opinion) for the above samster to clairfy with the hotel staff before paying, in a matter-of-factly and polite manner, the reason for the amount charged. Once he is totally satsified, he can then pay accordingly.

3. Let me relate to you my own experience with Hotel 81 at Joo Chiat Road.

a. When checking in, I was given the impression by the Hotel 81 staff that I will be charged extra $10 as a registration fee to enjoy the exemption of the $20 deposit. This one time payment will enable me to enjoy the same exemption at any of their Chain. What I find most unethical is the manner it was explained to me. The message conveyed was that such a $10 registration fee is part of their mandatory administration system.

b. The very minute I firmly clarified further about this so called mandatory requirement and why was I not given an option to decide for myself if I want to be exempted or not, u can immediately see the uncomfortable change in the staff. His facial expression and body vibes gave away his ruse.

c. He went on to explain that this is for my total benefit. I then told him that I appreciate his concern and I do not want to be registered as a member for whatever reasons.

d. Still, he was so adamant that he insisted that I must be registered as a member for my own benefit of enjoying further usage of the hotel.

e. All this way, I was calm, composed and firm in my dealing with him. When I demanded to see his Operation Manager regarding this issue, that staff immediately apologised for any discomfort and inconveniences caused.

f. He then sheepishly admitted to me that this registration fee for membership is not mandatory and is on a voluntary basis. All this time, the short queque that formed behind me applauded me and supported me for setting the record straight as they have been victims for such a ruse before.

4. Feedback from my friends told me that this registration system has not pro actively been offered now.

5. As a business entreprise, it is important that the hotel management remind its staff not to abuse their customer's trust and confidence. We will treat and respect them with grace and it is only right they take care not to take us for granted.

huh? Joo Chiat 81 got transit room rates? KNN, they told me only have overnight and no transit due to govt ruling whatever F**K. spend more $$$ to go down to GL...

Can ask which areas don't have transit rooms.

Chinatown 81 charge $30 for first 2 hrs transit
Addition $15 for next 1 hr....
total 3 hrs $30 + $15 = $45

1. What i mad abt now most is similar storyline got me conned.

2. Yes, similar to my exp, I asked the godda*n recep cant we not be a member?? Bugger said, "NO!! It's part of their administration process."

Lastly, like share 2 more pts with all bros unfamiliar with these buggers...

I.) Not all H81 offer same price of $20 for 2 hrs of transit... e.g. Kovan, Chinatown etc will set u back an additional 10 bucks i.e. $30 for 2 hours... (Tip: U can call the intended H81 beforehand and ask for the rates before making ur way down... Dun be surprised another H81 just within walking distance is offering the better offer...)

II.) 2 hrs up but u still got a lil' bit of unfinished biz left, but definitely dun need and/ or want to extend for another hr for add $10?? (Tip: Personally tried n tested... Wat i always do... Gv a call to recep fr room and "gei gei" ask, "No Washroom on ground level lobby rite?" (which is stating the obvious) So most prob ans is "No", den say u seem to be having the runs n need to use washroom in rm, hence kindly request for grace period... Pulled off this stunt all with success so far and longest i "overshot" was 35min.)

just to clarify, i agree with bro cqueen's saying of we should fight for what we think is not right.. but the point is, i do not know if it is right or wrong at that point of time.. i do have a feeling that it may be as what bro loneyheart say about 30 for 2 hrs and another 15 for additional hour.. at that point of time, i paid and just had a thought about it.. when my FL came, i just put it aside and went into heaven.. after my deed, again i thought about it and wanted to clarify at the counter.. then when i reach the counter, i thought again that i can check with the bros here instead.. maybe it is just my character for not wanting to portray my ignorance in public bah.. hehe.. but anyhow, i appreciate your comments.. will try to poke them hard if they fuck around with me again.. :P

Paying SGD40 for 2 hours is not exactly my cup of tea. They have already increased from $20 to $30 in some hotels and now want to increase some more during festive season
