Re: The Scent of a Woman
Unknown to Liz, I had decided to take the day off to keep her company. I had also told my wife that I had some guests in town and then shortly after, I would have to make a short trip over the weekend. Since my wife had never had a reason to suspect me, she wished me a good trip and didn’t ask too many details. I had often taken weekend trips for business with my overseas clients and usually parked my car at the airport when I took short trips (my wife had her own car so she really couldn’t care less). I had packed a weekend bag filled with some casual gear and it was sitting in the trunk of my car.
After breakfast, we got back into my car and I headed off towards the Marina Bay Sands. Liz was surprised and upon hearing that I had taken the day off to keep her company, she sported a big smile on her face. I pulled into the parking lot, (not willing to spring for the ridiculous valet parking fees) and led Liz towards the casino. I knew Liz had a gambling streak in her and she had never been to the new casino. We played at a few tables, playing Blackjack, Poker and even had a laugh at the slot machines. I was not a gambler, so I only joined Liz in a couple of games. She was an exceptionally lucky gambler, and had many lucky hands while playing poker. Her winnings were starting to show and when we cashed her chips, it amounted to a $20,000 winning. Needless to say, she was elated. I knew the amount didn’t mean very much to her, but as all punters would agree, winning is winning. By the time we walked out of the casino, it was already dusk. I brought her to the Imperial Treasure restaurant at Ngee Ann City for dinner, a place I knew well and ate often with my business associates. I am careful not to bring my wife to the same places that I entertain, for obvious reasons. The captain recognized me and ushered us to an empty table in a private corner. I ordered a clear broth chicken soup, steamed garoupa, some baby kailan and a spicy toufu. It was simple fare but we enjoyed our dinner tremendously. The captain was also very discreet, coming close to our table ad chatting casually with us, giving us little anecdotes of the sources of their dishes, and how they were prepared, but never once did the conversation verge on invasion of each other’s privacy. That was what I liked about this captain, other than the one at the China Club, very professional in their work as service professionals. Liz insisted on buying me dinner as she had done well at the tables earlier. I decided to oblige her. She happily paid for the dinner and we walked out of the restaurant, acting cordially as I did not want to run the risk of running into anybody I knew. Up till now, I had been very cordial when we were outside. We got into the car and I was thinking hard about where to go. |

Re: The Scent of a Woman
Me: “Hey… anywhere else you would like to go tonight?”
Liz: “Hmmm… I have been to most places in Singapore but this trip has been especially interesting… do you have any more places to suggest?” She had a wicked glint in her eyes. Me: “I hardly ever go out when I am back home, but let me see…” I decided to bring Liz to a place I had been to a couple times and enjoyed. I brought her to The Galleries at St James, where the atmosphere was just as I liked, I could people-watch but yet, be in a place where the music was not deafeningly loud. We took a seat near the fake fireplace and ordered cocktails, intending to keep ourselves sober for the night. We enjoyed ourselves, each having 8 rounds of different medium to hard concoctions of the bartender’s recommendations. By the time we were done, we were both a little buzzed, not drunk enough to not feel the buildup, but high enough to feel the buzz. It was midnight, and I knew better than to try to drive under the influence of alcohol, especially from St James. I called for the valet drive-home service that I usually used, an extremely good deal for $45 and tasked my usual guy to take us to the St Regis. He nodded silently, not saying anything that was not necessary. He was a guy I trusted and used often and he knew how I was like when I was drunk. He often took care of me when I was entertaining some especially difficult customers, mostly the Chinese businessmen who were visiting the new casinos and wanted to experience drinking and partying on foreign land. I could never understand that mentality since our night clubs were all filled with Mainland girls, and bedding them was no different from bedding those you saw in China. (sorry to digress here, but I just had to bitch about that ☺ ) We arrived at the St Regis and the hotel valet took over from the drive-you-home valet. We stumbled towards the lobby were soon in the lift.We were already kissing each other passionately. This time I decided to go slow and tender. I explored Liz’s mouth slowly, holding her tightly at the waist as she arched her back to savor the kiss. When we got into the room, I remembered my weekend bag and had to unwillingly break away from Liz in order to call the concierge to bring up my bag from the trunk. Thank god they were quick and we were both still in the mood when the bellboy closed the door behind him. We had both taken the time to freshen up in the bathroom and we were both dressed in the hotel’s bathrobes. |
