SINGAPORE - A woman fractured her spine in yet another lift accident at an HDB block in Bukit Panjang on Tuesday (June 7), Channel NewsAsia reported.

The news agency quoted the 59-year-old victim's daughter Tracy Goh as saying that "when the lift reached the first storey, it shot up to the 11th, down to the third and back up to the 12th".


Ms Goh added that her mother, known only as Mdm Yeo, grabbed the railing but still fractured her spine because of the strong impact. Also, there was a gap between the lift and the floor which

And since the piece of shit garbagement only reacts when they lose money, those who injured, died should sue hdb for millions or demand their hdb loan fully paid up n a unit given to them for rental income.

If everytime mrt breakdown they are forced to compensate millions, by now smrt will fcuking balls shrink over even a small breakdown. N khaw will shut the fcuk up until he solve the mrt situation

Maintenance service would conduct internal audit and investigation.
Insurance company would conduct investigation.
If foul play suspected police report would be made.
An independent COI would be set up to investigate the matter further and offer solutions and improvements.
Everyone one involved will be paying visits t the injured person.

Not the first time lift has malfunctioned, says resident; report lodged with town council

A Sengkang resident has told The Straits Times how a malfunctioning lift in his block stopped randomly between floors and dropped suddenly yesterday - three days after a similar incident left a woman in Bukit Panjang with a spinal injury.

Mr Tan Joo Jin, 45, entered the lift on the 15th level of Block 299A, Compassvale Street. All appeared fine until five other people entered on the eighth floor.

"We experienced a sudden strong jerk and the lift stopped between levels 3 and 4 for a few seconds," said the assistant safety manager.



"Then the lift suddenly shot downwards and stopped between levels 2 and 3 before landing hard on the ground floor."

He e-mailed Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council and received a reply that the issue was being looked into.

About 400 staff are being retrenched at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) amid tough times, The Straits Times understands.

More layoffs may be on the cards if operator Genting Singapore does not manage its serious bad debt problem and wrest more mass market share, observers say. If the regional slowdown persists, things could get worse.

RWS, which has 12,000 workers, is "reviewing operational resources". In a retrenchment letter seen by The Straits Times, RWS said: "In anticipation (that) the business situation is unlikely to improve any time soon, we have made a very difficult decision to reduce manpower."

It will offer a severance payment of half a month's salary for every year of service. The paper understands that 150 croupiers, 200 pit supervisors and 25 pit managers were among those retrenched.

RWS said in a joint statement with Attractions, Resorts and Entertainment Union (Areu) that it is necessary to review gaming business headcount to "achieve the right size to meet its business needs".

Of course they should check.
That's their jobs n no ones stopping them.
But providing safety in hdb flats is nt their jobs.
It's the garbagements'.

So if they discovered the problem is due to faulty parts, only the garbagement can stop n check all the lifts. Contractors only check the lifts under them.

Garbagement don't need to wait for police or fcuk inquiry. Once problems identifed, immediately take action on all lifts in spore.

In the real world, they'll announce to whole world so even condo owners will demand their contractors tell them their lifts r safe

and if the womans unlucky, her fractured spine can lead to her being permanently paralysed.

If she cannot move, she should tell her daughter to put her bk in the lift n let the lift finish her cos in spore, no money for medical fees, u might as well die.
