I think so. Most younger people are very influenced by social networks and, to some extent, films. Eg, friend posts on her fb wall what bf did for her and where she ate. Very typical fb postings but the thing is people do try to emulate all these.

Not only that. If you consider single child families, then this equation is lagi more complex. Person from such families may more likely be latch key kids. Not say they are bad, but chances are the values are not going to be the same as those born in 60s or earlier.

Got good and bad. If nt married, still can choose.

Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

Hi everyone..
Its nice to bump into this thread..

Luckily, I'm still single..
But my friend experience did make me feel not really sure abt marriage..

She said she loved his bf (now husband) and even her mom actually don't really like him, she still marry him..
Now she's 6 weeks pregnant and his husband busy chasing his ex gf and dun care abt my friend.

As a friend, i really want to hit his head using a stick..
He got my friend who i consider as smart, beauty and hardworking.. And he's the one who's been chasing at her.. Becoming such a gentleman now become such a jerk.
But bcos she can't cook like his ex, he keep scolding her..
Make her insecure. He's sucking life out of her.

It makes me question my friend who want to get married.
Why u want to marry him? Bcos he's rich ma? Why don't u marry ur ex?
But then being rich or marry rich guy isn't a guarantee that you'll live a happy life.

Its just create too much why's in my head.
I think when someone decide to marry, they have to really think it again and again. See the sign (objections, reactions) and how ur heart tell u.
Better cancel the wedding and lose some money rather than continue it..

Bcos these days marriage is too commercial..
Even I'm a woman, i do notice how other woman showing off their engagement/wedding rings, the size n venue for their wedding, and where they're going to hv honeymoon and all..
I do "wow" over my friend's big diamond engagement rings, but what do "wow" do if she suffer in that marriage?

I hope I'm not offending anybody..
Every man n woman must have their own dream wedding concept.. And at least want to live happily together..

But then i think the most important is how is you're going to marry ur partner for ur time of life. Loving in happy times, be there in sad times and stand together when stormy times. When u do, i think its the best marriage..

Can't believe the channel 8 show used the very title of this show in today episode. Is TS a director at mediacorp?

Yes, tis sad but it is true...know of a similar case b4. Tis the tactic they use to cow n put down their wives so tat they do not become an obstacle to their finding FLs, FBs, WLs etc. Being rich makes the problem even worse. So gals, be warned !. Beware who u are going to marry, know them very well, test them 1st, make really sure that u really love each other b4 u ever walk down the aisle wif them. If not, there can be a lot of untold heartaches n sufferings for u down the road. Save urself these miseries if u can. Just my 3 cents worth...

Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

Wow, this discussion is already 6 years old. Sorry for upping this thread. Allow me to say that marriage is just a stupid piece of paper that only the human species indulge in. Animals dont do that. Animals do not have to sign a contract in order to start a family. Think about it- marriage does not really change anything except maybe give you more burdens if you want a divorce in the future.

You cannot love another person more than yourself. The only true feeling for the opposite sex is lust. Lust ensures that the human species will procreate together and share DNA diversely in order to aid in evolution. This is a natural process that constantly produce improved versions of human beings. The hormones in your body cause you to want to have a connection with the opposite sex and your brain perceives it as "love". Love is imaginary.

In conclusion, I answer Yes to the thread title. You will never marry the one whom you love the most. Marriage is the greatest mistake a human can make.

Oh my goodness, bro asport !! well written !..such a brief yet simple explanation n view of wat 'human marriage' is really all about. Its all about misery, unhappiness, sorrow n break-ups down the road in many cases...sigh. The lucky few survive.

Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

TS, insightful question. I had this thought for a long time too. Love is not an in the moment kind of thought. It is a process just like marriage. You have to work at it and take the "up" in the same spirit as the "down".

Love is not a rating game and it kind of difficult to judge who we love the most. Either we love a person or we don't. There is no partial love, at least not in my mind. I don't have the answer to TS question but I chose to love the other half that I vowed to spend the rest of my life with. I think that is good enough for me.
