Can you please elaborate a bit? What is the situation there now? What is happening? What would I find, should I find a way to be teletransported and materialize there?

Similar to JB, Phuket and many Asean cities...those cheong places all didn't survived or closed...need time to reopen...once reopen also need time to have workers back...I will say takes 12 to 24 mths to go back to past glory...
I dun go just for sitting and lying in my room...there must be something worthy to do...at least food and drinks must reopen...

I will make my question more detailed. Probably you don't know, but if you know anyone on site, I die for curiosity to know what's going on there now.
1) "Massage" places (joints)? I guess all closed and disappeared for the moment. Or not?
2) "Regular" semi-legitimate massage places, as all those behind Utama Hotel?
3) Food courts? Why closed? what about locals and Indo business? I note that Marriott hotels are open and accept bookings. So, there are travellers to Batam, but must be all Indo.
4) Pubs? What would I see if I make a walk in Kampung Bule? What about Square? As above, I believe there are Indo business men around.
5) What would I see if I walk around Nagoya Hill mall? Same as before, but all Indo? Or not?
6) The most tricky: are disco opened again, or not yet? Did Planet 3 and Newton ever close, btw?? (Indonesia boleh)
Apologies for this kind of interrogation. I wish I could teletransport me there, or just have a drone flying around Batam to see how it looks like now...
Thanks!

Same here. I won't be thinking of going Batam until next year. Not even sure which part of next year, hehehe...
I feel so sad at times that some of the girls i knew who went back to their hometown from Batam has pass away (from lack of medical attention, i think).

Most tourist reliant massage places are closed. Sports Massage, Reborn etc are still opened.

Nope, i can't name the place now but according from an Indo Chinese friend in Batam, they are mostly all closed (if not all).

While food courts may still be opened, many lesser popular stalls in it are closed. Many bigger scale international chain hotels are still open, it's easy for them to survive by just cutting back on the number of staffs in it (& shut down the top 5 floors of their hotel). The regular few hotels i frequent are still there, just no more KTVs, & minimum Massage personnel in it.

Local are required to be vaccinated before they are allowed to step into malls. The last i heard, less than 30% of Indonesian were vaccinated which mean 3 out of 10 locals are allow to enter the mall.

The 5 days quarantine rules really not encouragingly helping from the Indonesia side. So it's back to sq1.
