Rest assured i had done my maths, i shouldnt lose any money holding the wedding in Singapore only. Simple Hotel Lunch Buffet + ROM + Wedding Shoot in VN and inviting only relatives and close friends, ex-boss and ex-colleagues (around 50-60pax).

Pardon me for my quick reply, did not have time just now as i am preparing for work. I should elaborate more on troublesome part.

If you read my earlier post, you should see i am a divorcee. With 2 kids somemore, custody is not mine but i need to pay alimony. So for me it is not once is a livetime anymore hahaha. 2nd and last of my lifetime!

I was quite persistent initially on holding the marriage ceremony both in SG and VN, as it is once in a lifetime for my wife-to-be. I want her to enjoy something like all other girls do once in a lifetime!

I was dissuaded my my wife-to-be to hold the wedding in VN.
Reasons being:-
1) Wife-to-be know my financial situation, slightly in debt and have to pay alimony every month for kids of my previous marriage. I was further dissuade by her, she even count to the extent i need to fly my parents over, fly my "brothers" over as i am quite a poor drinker, putting them into hotel blah blah blah etc etc etc.

2) Wife-to-be had also explain her family tree to me. Mother died since 9. Stayed with Mother's Brother since 10 in HCM, only went back to Rach Gia at 19 as she quarrel with Uncle's Wife. Uncle supported her money to open a coffeeshop and motorshop few years later. Father side very poor. Mother side above average but all stay as far as hanoi. So most cannot come. So sure lose money. And she herself find marrying in VN a hassle as she cannot be bothered to entertain most of her father side relatives. I can tell when we went to Long Xuyen together. She had shown/displayed significantly lesser respect to father side relatives compared to mother's sister at Rach Gia.

3) She further elaborate that the hongbao money collected will be kept by his father, which she dont want that to happen. I ask why and she tell me how his father remarry fast after mother die and how is father sold 2 of the 3 house previously owned by her mother. I try to explain the point that no father where got she, and she said thats why now she is renovating her last remaining house for his father. That is the last thing she going to do for her father. She even tell his father to change the title deed to her name after renovating... this one i nothing to say.

4) I tried a last ditch effort saying many Vn girl (my uncle and 1 gaming friend married vb also) marry to Singapore still hold wedding in VN. She shrug it off generalizing saying because they want ang bao money for their family, thats why they want to hold wedding in VN.

Ok lah, if your wife-to-be shoot you until like that, you think troublesome or not. She dont want, kinda good for me also, save money for perhaps our baby next time? Or a good honeymoon?

Questions

1) She had prepared her birth cert, highest education cert, single status paper. Still need what? I understand need to translate to english. Translate in Vietnam or Singapore? Estimated Damage in Vietnam or Singapore?

2) I read from somewhere that we need a translator during ROM. Any bros can PM me with someone reliable and not very expensive? What is the estimated damage?

Thanks in advance.
Good, since u have done your indian maths and yur wife-to-be also wants to help u save money. Then do the best for the both of u.

yes, i have read that u r a divorcee and getting married is not the 1st in yur lifetime but it is the 1st in yur wife-to-be's lifetime!

When my wife told me to hold a wedding at VN, i was concerned with the costs, i told her that i don earn much, i scared no money. She understands and says its ok not to have, but after i thought through, hey, its a once in a lifetime for both of us especially for her, so i said "ok, let's do it"

Yes, u may say holding wedding in VN is to give ang bao money to the girl's family. But u have to understand, they are still very traditional especially those in the provincial areas and giving dowry is part of their culture and tradition. Wedding to them is a big event for the family and they see it importantly especially for older generations.

in answering to yur questions:
1) its better to have them translated in VN. It is way much cheaper. I believed some bros have mentioned it here b4. I can't remeber how much, think it only a few hundred k VND. Ask yur wife go find out. She'll know.

2) yes u need a ceritfied translator not only during ROM but also during the verification and declaration at the Registry (Fort Canning). So its 2 sessions that u need a translator. Unless yur wife-to-be knows how to read and write and understand english well, Then can dont need the translator. I have 1, but i dun have her contact with me now. Will PM u tonite.

Her Father, 2 Uncle, 1 Auntie, 2 Cousins, 1 Young sister, me and bx was the crowd that eat the dinner

I caught 3 fishes (charged by the weight) off the pond. Ordered 1 additional kampong chicken, 3 plates of shellfishes, some random veges, rice and porridge, 1 dozen beer, some sting ("xi-thing" they pronounced it) drink and some soft drinks around 900,000 dongs.

yes, like what SingViet kor kor has said, so many dishes for 900k VND is not that expensive. The 1st time i treat my wife's(the gf) family for dinner at a restaurant also about the same number of dishes and people also around that amount. I think if u go HCMC, it will cost much more.

I am very lucky to find someone like her really. Imagine a girl never marry before choosing someone divorce with 2 kids alimony to pay and driving taxi as a job. If i am her, i definitely would not choose someone like that

1) Thanks bro, just called her she will do it in VN. But a bro just said no need? Need or no need seriously? Only for PR? LTSVP need or no? Because i thought i see on ICA website need?

2) I got contact from Bro Shysaint already. But if you also have contact share also please. Can compare price haha.
***she can read and write decent*** maybe my son primary 5 standard. But speak not very good. Maybe primary 1 standard, liddat need or not ah?***

New Question:-

3) Any bros or bros' friends got similar circumstances? My declared income for 1998-2007 (salaried civil service), for 2008 is 30,000, (salaried worker) for 2009 is 36,000 (salaried worker), 2010 is 42,000 (salaried worker), 2011 is 36,000 (taxi self-employed, havent start top up medisave, must faster go topup... i know).
Age 33, O level cert, alimony 600 per month, no criminal record.
Wife to be 24, no brushes with ICA. Come SG 3 times. 1 time student pass, 2 times on social visit see me.

Will i face difficulties in securing LTSVP for her looking at the above mentioned circumstances? If any bros cannot post openly kindly PM me, thanks a million!

I have never paid income tax before when I married my wife in Singapore and got the LTVP. The marriage cert is more important for LTVP. Income tax consideration should be taken by ICA when applying for PR and SC.

Only thing when applying for LTVP is 6 months, 1 year or the new 3 years. My wife got 1 year renewable of course.

Regards,

Uncouth
