I actually brought my laptop down to the recep n asked them to keep for me until i return from my shopping n such. I only bring my passport wif me, and sometimes left my digital camera in the safe box.

CP hotel, Hui Hua seems very safe, altho not many security can be seen.. but one feels safe in the hotel.. that's how i felt when I was there...

yes ... my notebook was too big for the safe thus i left it outsdie ...
matter of fact, i have always left my notebook in my hotel room all these while and nothing happen ...
but after this incident ... i cannot be complacent anymore ....
will keep all my valuables in the safe ...

And another advise to all bros ....
try not to set the room safe combination number that's related to u ... example .. ur phone number, birthdate, passport number etc etc ...
if the thieves broke into ur room...they will try to break ur safe combination code ... and if it's an inside job, they will have ur information ....

after this incident ... this is what i will do the next time:
if ur notebook cannot be kept inside the safe, i guess u dun have much choice if the thieves were to break into ur room ...
keeping it inside ur locked luggage bag will not help ... and matter of fact, u'll end up with a damaged luggage bag ...

1. backup all my files at home or on a thumbdrive.
2. bring a netbook instead of a notebook so can keep it inside the room safe.
3. DO NOT be complacent. Keep all valuables in safe.

Good advice bro, n yes, netbook lighter n smaller.. easier to put into safe.
i brought netbook there for my maiden trip. Fits nicely into the safe with my digital camera inside

And about the code to the safe, your advice is exactly what my frens who travels a lot says.
Use another code that is not really inside ur travel documents.. think of one
n remember it write it down or key it into ur mobile. cos if u forget.. jialat liao

honestly, I think asking the recep to hold onto it is the best. cos if anything happen, they can't deny no responsibility. And they usually cannot refuse ur request. I was asked y i din keep inside safe or room once, n i said, "too many things in safe liao.. my camera big.. and i scared the cleanner knock the wire.. my notebook is not new n the connection bad.. once wire trip.. cant work liao."

They gave me a surprised look, and took my netbook and put into their recep safe. Actually, the real reason was I din wan my KC to see some pics of a FL I had patronised in CP.. haha... if she check my netbook.. n find out.. no more bonking for the remaining 2 days. I went for the FL when my kc was not feeling well on one of the days.
