I feel it is better to let go of Joe Cole as his wages can be used to pay for 2 new players. How come he has the 2nd highest wages after Gerrard?

If you are the boss of a company you would pay your most valuable worker the highest wage, followed by the next best worker and so on.... those that cannot contribute much to the company get the peanuts. A jobless guy wanting to join your company should take what you offer him, right? So i cannot understand why Joe Cole was paid over the top.

what i don't understand even more is why pay him top dollars and don't use him in the team? even when he is loaned out, his salary is still subsidised by LFC.
If we let Kuyt leave for $1 million pounds, that's terrible. We should only let him leave if we can secure able replacements.
Free transfer is not equal to jobless. If Joe Cole didn't run down his contract, we will easily have to pay more than $10 million pounds for him, with him being English. Some of the transfer budget saved are used for his wages. I think we aren't paying Joe Cole much higher at Liverpool than what Joe Cole earned in Chelsea. If I remember correctly, Joe Cole was signed because he was a proven winger (up till he joined us), he is English and home-club grown. So Joe Cole will be helpful for us to reach the home-grown quotas. If we are going to sell Joe Cole cheap, I rather we get him back as a squad player.
As for why we didn't play him more often, that question seemed to be asked around a lot these 2 seasons. Bellamy and Maxi should play more too. So, Joe Cole could perhaps be an unfortunate casualty of behind the scenes politics?

Joe Cole was brought in on a free transfer in July 2010 after his contract expired on 30 June 2010, meaning he was "jobless" for only a few days.
Craig Bellamy was also brought in on a free transfer after the last year of his contract was cancelled on mutual consent by Man City.
In my opinion, Joe Cole did not play well for Liverpool immediately because he had just recovered from a knee injury and was playing his way back to full fitness. Thus, it was a good decision for him to be loaned out to Lille to get back his match fitness. Now that he almost back to his best (4 goals in 27 appearances for Lille vs 2 goals in 20 appearances for Liverpool so far), Liverpool should bring him back to the team and play him regularly.
If he is allowed to join Lille permanently, I will be so disappointed because Joe Cole has the potential to do well at Liverpool and he could well be the answer to our midfield problems all season long.

Team news for Liverpool vs West Brom on Sunday:
Goalkeepers Jose Reina and Doni return from suspension. Reina is set to reclaim his starting place after a three-match absence but Brad Jones, who deputised in last weekend's FA Cup semi-final, will hope to remain in the squad. Left-back Jose Enrique could return, having missed out at Wembley, while striker Andy Carroll will be looking to retain his place after scoring the winning goal in the last two matches.

Yeah plus the 15-20m saved on transfer fees for a typical English player. Free transfers are much in demand.
We've had too many cases of players recovering from injury and not finding their form...Carroll, Cole, Aquilani... maybe that's why sports medicine guy had to go.

Peter Bruckner is not a specialist in soccer medicine, he was the Australian Olympic Games squad doctor. While he was treating the Australian Olympic soccer squad, he got to know the the lady physio from Liverpool FC who was attached to the British Olympic squad.... she recommended him to the Liverpool FC and he got hired.

KD has been asked by the owners to give them a report on the players in a meeting held a few days ago. I guess they are preparing to cut away the dead wood and non performers.
In view of this, I think Liverpool will raise their game against WBA as the players know they will be playing for their ricebowl and go all out to impress... so my prediction :-
