PAP recycling questions on town council unproductive: Low Thia Khiang

September 4, 2015 by Andrew Loh in News, Politics · 18 Comments

Low, flanked by WP Nee Soon GRC candidatesThe Workers’ Party (WP) secretary general, Low Thia Khiang, says the People’s Action Party (PAP) is recycling questions about the WP-run town council, and that the latter has answered all the questions that have been asked of it.

Mr Low was speaking to the media on a walkabout on Friday morning in Nee Soon GRC, where the WP is contesting against the PAP.

“The PAP is going in circle,” Mr Low said, when asked for his reaction to the latest PAP remarks on the town council issue. “And I think it is unproductive to continue with the engagement.”

The WP chief said the party “will move on from here”, to focus on the party’s campaign theme, “Empower Your Future”.

When asked if he was concerned that the town council issue might overshadow his party’s campaign, Mr Low reiterated that the WP has already answered the questions from the PAP, and that the latter “is just recycling the questions again.”

“It is unproductive for us to continue this circle,” he said. “The AGO issue has been debated over and over again and we have answered all the questions but they keep coming back with the same questions, recycling all the questions. It is unproductive.”

Mr Low said the WP will henceforth be talking more about other issues in its campaign.

As for the party’s contest in Nee Soon GRC, Mr Low said the party has done groundwork, including house visits, in the constituency, and that in the last elections the voters there had given the party quite good support.
“I would expect we have substantial support here,” he said.

The WP scored 42 per cent of the vote share in the 2011 general election in the constituency.
