SINGAPORE: Singapore's Under-23 football team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Syria in a friendly match at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday (Feb 21) evening.
It was a thrilling start to the first-half as Syria opened the scoring in the 16th minute, only for the Young Lions to equalise seconds later through a backheel from Irfan Fandi, son of Singapore football legend Fandi Ahmad.
Syria's Under-23 team regained the lead in the dying minutes of the first-half. The 2-1 scoreline remained after a goalless second-half.
The Young Lions will play more matches in preparation for the SEA Games in June.
