New owner of Mobile Air: Is he Ricky Lee, Wilfred or Edmund Lim?

By Jalelah Abu Baker

SINGAPORE -

More details have emerged about the owner who has taken over the shop space of the now infamous phone shop Mobile Air in Sim Lim Square.

Shin Min Daily reported on Wednesday that his name is not Ricky Lee as previously reported, but is in fact, Edmund Lim Hong Ching.

Mr Lim has been in the spotlight after buying over Mobile Air owner Jover Chew's business. Mr Lim was also known as Wilfred previously.

Mr Chew has gone missing after media reports exposed his shop's hard-sell and cheating tactics. His shop at Sim Lim Square was closed for a while before Mr Lim re-opened it on Nov 14. He said he planned to name it HJ Mobile.

It has also emerged that Mr Lim was in debt, according to Shin Min. The front door of Mr Lim's flat was splashed with paint, and his shoe rack set on fire three years ago, the Chinese evening paper reported. He apparently borrowed money from different people and in 2010, was $10,000 in debt, the report said.

Mr Lim used to work for Mr Chew. He later worked for four months in JW World, another shop at Sim Lim, last year.
Police raided his current shop, and seized documents and products on Nov 16, following up on reports lodged against against Mobile Air.
