Group of ‘Indian guys’ attack taxi on Xmas day
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
A CitiCab driver, Sebastian Leo, lodged a police report yesterday (26 Dec), alleging that he was attacked by a group of “Indian guys” on Christmas Day at about 5.30am. In the report, he stated that he was driving his taxi along Havelock Road. Upon reaching the T-Junction of Magazine Road, he was stopped by a group of “7-8 Indian guys”. Some then tried to board the taxi but the rear passenger doors were locked. Mr Leo then wound down his window to inform them that he can’t pick up passengers at a junction. Also, he told them that he was about to change shift. The group ignored him and continued trying to open the rear door. Frustrated, they began to kick the taxi and asked Mr Leo to get out. Mr Leo tried to move his taxi but one of the guys was holding on to the taxi front window. Mr Leo then told them that he couldn’t take them. At this point, one of the guys grabbed Mr Leo at his neck and punched him in his face. The rest went berserk and started to throw things at the taxi. All the windows of the taxi were smashed, according to Mr Leo. Mr Leo managed to drive off to the Ministry of Manpower building where he called the police. The whole incident lasted some 5 minutes. It is not known if the alleged attackers are Singaporeans or foreigners. According to the media, the police confirmed the assault. The police say they are investigating a case involving a taxi driver who claimed he was assaulted by “a group of men” on the morning of the 25th near Magazine Road. The injured Mr Leo was later sent to Singapore General Hospital. Meanwhile, the Attorney-General’s Chambers is charging 4 of the 25 Indian foreign workers purportedly involved in the Little India riot with additional charges. The 4 Indian nationals facing additional charges are:Arumugam Karthik, 24 – said to have flipped over a police car and set fire to a police vehicle
