As recommended by some bros here, am half way through the book "Sex At Dawn", interesting book on Human behavior as genetically determined vs human behavior as socially disharmon.

Rape is an unfortunate but largely successful reproductive strategy.

Marriage amount to a no-win struggle of mutually assured disappointment.

Romantic love is reduced to a chemical reaction luring us into reproductive entanglement parental love keeps us from escaping.

It's a book that attempts to explain human sexual behaviour in terms of evolutionary psychology using the latest evidence gathered.

The main thesis of the book is that until recently, humans (men as well as women) have always (for hundreds of thousands of years or even more) led a non-monogamous lifestyle. Until ten thousand years ago or so, with the discovery of agriculture and the concept of ownership of property, that is.

The book is available at various branches of our National Library. It was published last year, with the paperback edition released just a few months ago. It has won several awards.

Well, I HATE reading too, but it has an "audible" version which I subscribed to; listening via my iPhone/PC while surfing SBF or waiting.

Technology is nice.

I wonder if I can "borrow" it to someone else since it's in audio files format. Hmmm... need to check the copyright stuffs. Else I don't mind "borrowing" the book to others.

Life can be conceptualized in terms of economics and game theory.

2) Women reproductive resources are precious and finite. Our ancestrial women did not squander it on random man. Women in the past who failed to excercise acument before consenting to sex were left in the evolutionary dust. Our ancestor mothers use wisdom to screen out losers.

Which was, more or less, the thesis of R Dawkins's classic work, The Selfish Gene.

In effect, we are gene carriers. And yes, the genes don't care whether or not we are happy. All "they" want is to be able to reproduce themselves in some other bodies.

In a way, it kinda reminds me of that science fiction story, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, with our genes behaving like aliens within us and controlling our behaviour.

i think humans are just like any other animals, we want our genes to be passed down. and the basic instinct is to mate with as many females as possible to ensure that.

back then, there were 3 types of guys, the hunters, gatherers and the good for nothings. as you know, females will want to choose their mates as well, and will obviously choose the one that can best provide for her. therefore, nobody will choose the good for nothings, and they are without mates.

as the hunters and gatherers are out doing what they do best, the good for nothings are sitting around the fire doing what they do best, bitching and and complaining about not getting any pussies (parliament)

its them that start putting all these ideas in the womens' heads about 1 woman per man. (so that the fucktards will at least get some scrapings after the hunters and gatherers made their choices)

The gist of the theory is, in my own words, why male wants to eat as many pussies as possible and female wants male to be exclusive to her:

In the old days...
- Female are dependant on male for "resources".
- Female exchange sex for these "resources".
- Female have to be choosy on which male to father her children, typically choosing those with "resources". Loosing this male to other female risk the lost of these resources & thus the surivial of her children.
- However, male with "resources" may not be those with good genes (mancho, handsome, etc.), therefore contradicts the above. So female may also "cheat" to mate with other males but keep the ATM.

- Male are programmed genetically to spread his genes as wide as possible to ensure continuity.
- Male need female to be "exclusive" and not mate with other males so as to ensure the child really belongs to him, and not father the children of other males.
- Male will tend to mate with as many female as possible, so as to up the chances of his genes spreading rate and children survival rate. Even if he don't provide "resources" to those female.

Yea, before "civilization" and the introdution of "private properties" (e.g. exclusive mate), human being lives in communal groups where everything, including mates, are shared.

Latest update is that for hundreds of thousands of years, females also want to mate with as many males as possible to ensure the best genes for her offspring.

In the context of communal living where most things including sexual partners are shared, the competition is not so much between competing males but it occurs at the sperm level. She has sex with many males but ultimately, only the best sperm gets to fertilise her egg.

And in communal living, when the males aren't sure just who the actual father is, the child is cared for as belonging to the whole tribe, which actually better ensures survival.

Until the notion of private property came along and spoilt the party for everyone. And this was roughly about ten thousand years ago with the advent of agriculture. This was, more or less, the starting point for monogamy.
