警方芽笼大扫黑，14小时内逮捕170人！

警方昨天展开大规模的扫荡行动，200名来自警察部队、中央肃毒局和移民与关卡局的执法人员，从白天扫荡到 凌晨，突击芽笼4巷到24巷，在长达14 个小时的行动中，逮捕103名男子和67名女郎。

这次的扫黑行动，包括扫黄、扫赌、扫毒、扫烟，以及取缔私会党活动。《联合晚报》记者接获消息赶到现场采访 ，目睹警方在芽笼多条巷子和大街上，上演一幕幕惊险的捉人画面。

据《联合晚报》了解，扫荡行动从昨天下午3时展开，一直持续到今天凌晨。突击地点包括酒店、后巷、小旅舍， 甚至马路上。

由于扫荡行动非常大规模，许多公众惊见这一幕，纷纷驻足围观，气氛非常紧张。一些负责赌档和色情架步的看水 者，在咖啡店里惊悉警方突击，更是吓得鸡飞狗走，他们边逃边高喊，要向赌档和色情架步内的人通风报讯，场面 顿时大乱。

警方一举瓦解后巷赌档，60多名赌徒竞相奔出后巷逃命，场面吓人。昨午3时55分，后巷突然传出：“警察捉 人啊！”。目击者说，约60人突然从16 巷和18巷的后巷冲出来，朝马路不同方向逃跑，顿时吓坏许多公众。

原来警方突然后巷的赌档和售卖色情光碟小贩。赌档经营者和赌徒四处窜逃，不过警方早有部署，埋伏在附近多个 地点，警方四面包抄，让他们插翅难飞

170 nabbed in huge raid

SOME 170 people were arrested Saturday morning in a massive 14-hour operation at Geylang, led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The operation involved over 200 officers from the Home Team and kicked off Friday afternoon, said the Singapore Police Force in a statement.

The people were caught for a host of criminal offences including illegal gambling activities, secret society involvement, possession of an offensive weapon, immigration offences, peddling contraband cigarettes, vice-related activities, trafficking, possession and consumption of controlled drugs.

The operation also led to the capture of those who were wanted for other offences.

The arrests were made at various locations including hotels, at back lanes, lodging houses and also along the road, between Geylang Lorongs 4 to 24.

SAC Ng Boon Gay, Director of CID, praised the officers involved for carrying out a well-coordinated and successful operation. He expressed his appreciation to all agencies for their strong support.

He added, 'We will not tolerate such criminal activities. The agencies will continue to work together and conduct such regular enforcement actions. There is no safe haven for criminals on our streets.'

Investigations against those arrested are ongoing.

I'm surprised the raid is in the day. Thought Geylang only comes alive at night. I wonder why they needed to raid it for 14 hours. Normally once a raid starts, the girls who aren't there will be informed and avoid the area already. So why the need for a 14 hour raid...

It's a KTV..used to be in lor 41..now relocated and re-renovated at lor 6, it's call.."qing gei" now.
CNY coming...no wonder operation also coming...!CNY will be disappointing to some bros as many prcs scared to come to work...
