My case a bit different. When i married my wife, she asked a relative to help us do housework at 700K VND a month. I obliged as i thought not a big sum. Then when my gals came along, also got nanny from province and maid also continued. Got a point in time when my business was doing quite well, my household in VN got 2 nannies, 2 maids to clean house and 1 cook. But the salaries of all these maids is only equal to 1 maid's salary + govt tax in singapore. All these years, my wife has maid to help her take care children and do housework. I remember got a period of time in Singapore, we sent our indonesia maid back to agent and got to wait for around 1 month for next maid to arrive. My wife everyday temper not good as she needs to do housework. I helped her also but still got kids to take care. Maybe i give my wife too good life from the start, she cannot do without maid. Nowadays my health not good, so i also cannot do without maid.

The normal working adult (without degree) will earn around 3 million VND a month, roughly around S$182 a month. As most of these workers come from the province to work in the city, they got to rent a room. Rent of room nowadays will take up nearly 1/3 of their monthly salary. So these workers basicall live from hand to mouth every month. A local degree holder (fresh graduate) earns around 4 to 5 million VND a month while a foreign graduate earns around 6 to 7 Million VND a month.

3 - 5mil is definitely insufficient...most VBs will get bf to give some allowance...so anyway this is life to them...

you mean decent vb will also get allowance from their bf?
yes...life goes on...was speaking to so many of them...those working in cafe and restaurant...those whit local bf usually gets allowance...some not fixed...usually helped to pay for rental or remit money home to province..
those VBs which speaks english will have foreigner bf...some are SWM, Jap, Korean...these group will have allowance between USD 500 to USD2k...
quite a number of them are mistress to married men...

i once heard from a friend of mine that his boss hired a fresh grad in HCMC for USD250. this is the story: fresh grad come for interview was asked what was her expected salary, her reply: USD250. my friend's boss straight away: u r hired! heard this was about 2 yrs ago.
seems to me another one wants to dump $$ into saigon river. give the $$ tio me lah i help u donate to charity better. help those in real need is better.

When i put advertisement on newspaper to recruit staff for my office, i got many applications. From fresh graduates to those with a few years of experience, all seem to be able to write english very well. But when it comes to interview, its quiet all the way. Only got 1 lady, who graduated from a private school in singapore can speak english very well, but she is a job hopper, 2 years 5 jobs. Finding suitable staff is not easy.
wow..
i thought thailand was worst..seems like viet is kinda more worse off than them..
i sometimes really wonder with their low pay n standard of living..how are they going to survive..

When u earn little then u spend less. Factory workers who might be earning 1 of the least in Vietnam or Thailand but yet they can survive day to day as long as no one at home shaking leg, gambling, life is still manageable.
