Re: Chinese RMB rates..

My def (unlike yours) small is less than 50 RMB

The acc opening form is quite complicated so best bring along meimeis to help. As China bank alway crowded and long queue, if you fill in the form wrongly, need to queue again ....it is a headache.

For you my advice is go to the VIP section (Like S pore bank priority banking), the staff will do all the necessary for you. To qualify for this, you only need to place a small amount (by your def not mine) of RMB in FD.

Enjoy yourself

Re: Chinese RMB rates..

I do not know if all china banks have VIP. But construction bank opp HH at CP and their branch at CA near to LQD have VIP section.

Contruction bank is the best for us because
1. They have the most ATMs around the HH and Huimei area in CP. 3 ATM each next to Macdonald opp HH and at the street opp Huimei.(near the soup rest) 2 more ATM at the culture plaza near New Century hotel. Very useful after KC or badminton with MM at culture plaza.
2. They have a branch and ATM near LQD.
3. Remitting $ to construction bank is more efficent if you are using agent at PP. Worst is BOC and Agriculture Bank.

Finally just like Singapore, ATM can only transfer fund to accounts with the same bank. Meaning if u have acc with construction bank u can only transfer money to another construction bank accountvia ATM. So sure all your MeiMeisss have account with the same bank.
Since u are asking about VIP section, I will assume you are going to place your small FD with them.

Yalor this CASHKING spoil market one lah. In the past I think he tip until gilah in Tomyam land. Haha.

In China there is no tipping culture. You can ask China man. Haha.

If service is good ask to extend session or RTF. This can help them to meet their monthly quota faster.

Re: Chinese RMB rates..

Actually no harm if give small tips in china. U get good return for the small money you give. But to tip 100 to 500RMB is gilah.

In Singapore can check balance at any DBS ATM. (No charge), Can also withdraw cash but FX losses and there are charges.
I heard from my friend that ICBC is a good choice for safety. They have the OTP device(one time password) and internet banking as well. So to transfer to other bank also can but with a charge.

Is it true?

By the way on another forum. Those resident ang mohs in DG area also buay tahan those BSDs. Whenever the Canton Fair is on. The BSDs will come into town and start to become Santa Claus with the WLs.
