Mary was outside and she seemed like she was waiting for me.

For the first time, Mary ran to me.

I ran into the room.

Snow was unconscious.

Her wrist was bleeding.

On the table were lots of bottles of wine, few broken.

The ambulance arrived as she was put into the stretcher.

I immediately texted Dawn.

Snow was rushed to the hospital and Mary was with her.

I waited for Dawn as we went together. Dawn was shocked by what she heard and we waited. Luckily for Snow, it was not fatal. She was able to be discharged tomorrow.

Snow looked at the side. She seemed as though she was somehow like a person without a soul. Mary talked to her but she did not seem to hear her at all.

She noticed a familiar walking pattern of mine and she turned her head. She smiled when she saw me but when she saw Dawn, her eyebrows arched downwards. She knew that it was impossible for Snow and me. She tried her best to smile at Dawn.

Dawn smiled at Snow as she stepped to a side.

Me: Are you alright Snow?

Snow stared at me. Her eyes yearning for my embrace.

I stroked her forehead and she nodded weakly.

Me: Please don't do this. You are hurting yourself and others too. There are people who care for you too.

The droplet was getting bigger and bigger and it reflected on the scene of both me and Snow in the conversation, as it trickled down the side of her eyes.

Snow was sniffing. And she could not control her tears.

She wept quietly but gave a smile to me.

She asked me to lower my head to her ears.

Snow: Do I mean anything to you?

I was thrown off by her question.

I could not answer her.

Me: I do not know, Snow.

It was like she had anticipated this answer.

Her hands moved to my face and she smiled.

Her hands were cold.

She spoke again faintly.

Snow: I'm sorry to make you go through all this.

Me: I was never angry with you Snow. Never.

She cried again, thanking me continuously.

Me: Promise me Snow.

She paused again, and looked at me with her tender eyes.

Me: Please don't do anything foolish. Live on. Live your life. Live your life for me.

I grabbed her hands and rubbed, letting the coldness of her palms go away.

Snow looked at me and nodded her head.

Me: Have a good rest Snow.

Mary went to her side as she held on to Snow's hand.

I went towards Dawn and we waved goodbye to Snow.

Dawn: Go and give her a goodnight kiss dear.

Me: But...

Dawn: Go. She needs it.

Me: Ok.

I went over and kissed Snow's forehead.

She was surprised but she liked the gesture.

She looked at me with a contented smile like how a kid got her candy.

I left the ward with Dawn.

After leaving the hospital, Dawn cling her arms around mine.

Dawn: I'm not letting you go dear.

Me: Me neither.

Dawn was happy as we walked.

Dawn: How is your sculpture?

Me: Thank god it's done already. Thank god.

Dawn: That's great! So...

Me: Yes?

I said with a frown on my face.

Dawn: you are not going back to your office are you?

Me: Why?

Dawn: You haven't been home for a long time dear.

It took me a while to get what Dawn was saying.

Yes she had always thought my house was a rented office and my real house is the 3 room flat.

She slapped my arms.

I nodded.

I was caught off by her remark.

Another pinch came.

Dawn: We need to save for the future you blockhead. I went through the accounts. We are always quite marginal so we need to save for a rainy day. Having a big job doesn't mean you can splurge.

I did not expect this to come from her.

Compared to Snow who spends every single cent, Dawn was the opposite.

We took the public transport home, holding hands.

What caught me was how could she knew what it was all about?

How could she knew the ending to this poem?

I was shattered all over. Even beyond what I had expected. I had thought she would not know. I thought I could get away with it.

My heart tightened.

Dawn: Something is wrong. Tell me. Tell me please dear.

I avoided that question.

Me: It's nothing dear. I'm tired. Can we go to sleep?

Dawn held on to my arms.

Dawn: Tell me dear. You are hiding something from me. I can sense it.

Me: You are over thinking. It's just I suddenly thought of the story about Romeo and Juliet. A tragic love story. I got emotional. It's almost like us. We been through alt to be together. But... how did you know the phrase?

She seemed a bit more relieved.

Dawn: Your dear likes to read. And am a romantic fan.

I hugged Dawn.

Me: Sorry to make you worry. I will make you some amendments.

Dawn: And what is that?

Snow was discharged from the hospital. Mary was there, helping her settle the procedures.

Mary: How are you feeling?

Snow smiled at her.

Snow: I will live on. For him.

Me: Are you sure doc?

Doc: Yes.

Me: Tell me you are kidding me.

Doc: I'm not.

I took my medical report.

And the whole world seemed to be grey.

I texted Dawn.

Me: Dear, can you pack your luggage? We are going for a three day escapade to Phuket. Meet me at the airport at 12pm.

Dawn: Wow! You sure?

Me: Yes dear. Can you pack mine too?

Dawn: Of course! Then how about your office?

Me: I've already set that the office would be closed.

Dawn: Thank you dear!

She was excited as she quickly packed. She had not went overseas before and was all ready to go.

I stared at the report and tore it to pieces.

There she was, dressed in simple blue jeans with a pink tee shirt.

Dawn: Dear!

She gave me a kiss as we checked in.

Dawn: When did you book it dear?

Me: Secret.

Dawn: Thanks dear, you are so sweet!

We hugged as we checked in and boarded the plane.
