A good result. 3 points. Performance can be improved, hopefully. Until the sending off, we weren't as dominant. At least Lucas is beginning to play more like Alonso... He gets opponents red-carded.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Hi guys, the common answer when i asked Liverpool supporters why they support and reason was "You never walk alone". But my understanding is that this is a musical song, and not originated from Liverpool. so i will like to know more as to why LFC have such strong connection to this song.
Could someone kindly explain to me? i sincerely wish to know why and many thanks in advance. btw, Ruud Van wages demand is high.. heard that Spurs and Blackburn wanted him earlier in the summer but he refuses to take pay cut. Hopefully he values world cup more and is willing to take pay cut to Liverpool |

Anyway, for a start (Wiki not always right so Pool fansites might be better): In England, the song's most successful performance was recorded in 1963 by the Liverpudlian Merseybeat group Gerry & The Pacemakers (peaking at number one in the singles chart for four consecutive weeks). It quickly became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club and is invariably sung by its supporters moments before the start of each home game.[2][3] The words "You'll Never Walk Alone" also feature in the club crest and on the Shankly Gate entrance to the stadium. According to former player Tommy Smith, Gerry Marsden presented Liverpool manager Bill Shankly with a recording of his upcoming cover single during a pre-season coach trip in the summer of 1963. "Shanks was in awe of what he [had] heard. [...] Football writers from the local newspapers were travelling with our party and, thirsty for a story of any kind between games, filed copy back to their editors to the effect that we had adopted Gerry Marsden's forthcoming single as the club song."[4] Marsden himself told BBC Radio how, in the 1960s, the deejay at Anfield would play the top-ten commercial records in ascending order, with the number one single transmitted last, shortly before kickoff. Supporters standing on the Spion Kop terrace would sing along, but once "You'll Never Walk Alone" dropped out of the top-ten, says Marsden, they continued to sing it.[5][6] The song was later adopted by the Scottish teams Hibernian and Celtic,[3] Dutch teams Feyenoord and FC Twente, the Belgium team Club Brugge,[7] and Japan's F.C. Tokyo.[8] You'll Never Walk Alone (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

No one to applaud our victory at Villa? Heheh.
Reina kept us in the game but we battled hard all match. Finally showed some character. Torres proved me wrong (and I'm happy to be proven wrong). No other striker at the club could have struck the ball past Friedel in the dying minutes. Revenge mission No. 2: Spurs. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
another 3 pts.
end 2009 with a win. a win is still a win and whether we played good or bad does not matter much. of cos all of us will like to see our team plays good and entertaining soccer but if the end result is no good, then it is no use. hopefully,we can continue with our winning in 2010. oh yes,Spurs will be next...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I managed to watch the game from 60min onwards(cant wake up )
From what I saw, we didnt play well.. Passing was off, lacking of ideas and in fact might have lost the game by at least 2 goals... I can say we are damn lucky the ball bounced to Torres in injury time for him to score... BUT results like this show luck is going our way, winning tough and tricky games without playing at our best... It will also be a huge confidence boost for us, knowing that we can really go on an unbeaten streak if we improve further... Anyway, it was a top class finish from Torres...
