One common theme i heard was that the business had dropped since February, and that apart from the big show days, there are very little customers on normal days, about 25% ~35% down already.

One of the bros here mentioned he heard about problems at Cleopatra, business awful, much fewer singers, may close. I was surprised and unbelieving, given the longevity of the place and how it did well even when in that old, dirty house. But I checked with some singers and rumours indeed are that it is in flux. Supposedly the big boss (not the person who's there almost daily) wants to sell, but if he sells the landlord won't transfer lease to new owner (which seems odd, so not sure if info is good). Asked what about all the big hangers who have lived there for donkey years, said some still go, but many have either gone elsewhere or have stopped. I hope it can stay open as I like the environment and have many good memories from there

The manager and the so called singer manager may accompany you, but drink very little of it. And the little that they drink, they dilute furiously with lots of water.

I think your observation is spot on. Take is from a commerical perspective. The more they drink , ie less diluted. The likelyhood of alcohol finishing faster and you need to order more....more money for them as they get commission from alcohol sales. Contrary to normal flower joint, i dont assume that their health is failing and the need for dulution is a) to help protect their health, b) to help you save money and not drink too much like freeloading you. I leave the judgement to you without biased on the issue at hand.
