Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
actually i tot the Reds did not look that bad as reported in the media later, just that they lack confidence...new boy Martin Kelly acquitted himself quite well...the main problems were:
1) Reds overall defence still looks shaky and lacks confidence 2) wifout Gerrard/Torres combo cracking on all cylinders Reds lack fire power 3) Yossi was perhaps the Reds most creative n effective player on the pitch, which then makes me wonder why the hell Rafa took him off at such a vital time to replace him wif that pony tail bozo Voronin??... its make or break time at Anfield this Sunday agst Manure...come on u Reds... My feel is that the league has become much harder to win now with Chelsea and Scum's dominance (both football and financial). Rafa won the league in Spain twice when Barca and Real were both out of sorts. I thought we were quite poor really. We didn't play like a home team and Lyon outpassed us embarrassingly easily. We were on the back foot for long periods with little threat on the counter (no Stevie/Torres, no pace). |

All those things that RAFA said before Lyon's match, that's a load of PR crap. Like a certain someone who said things are turning round the corner (and never seems to get out of it). Those who believe in wat being said, well, that's blind faith for you.
What the team really needs is..a HAIRDRESSING TREATMENT! ...here comes Fergie!!!..watch out for those flying boots...!!...aarrgghh.. Becks will tell you how it feels like... ..and then, they will wake up their ideas.. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
this weekend match against the devils will be a good match to see if we can turn around our recent bad performance and get back to winning way.

*INSIDER NEWS FROM ANFIELD*
We may not have the services of Mascherano come January ......... Boss tried the SAF "hairdryer" stunt on him to get it into his head to stop using his mouth to harass the referee so much and concentrate on playing football...... fireworks flew between them Now Boss is considering offloading Mascherano to raise cash to buy a few other players this January. |

Did the BOSS throw a beach ball at him ? Maybe Mascherano could have used the beach ball and throw it at the referee instead of arguing with him

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
sorry but i hv to agree to disagree wif u on this one Bro...on balance Rafa appears to be a poor judge of spotting n developing talent...the facts do not lie...and it is disingenuous to lay the blame for this on those carpetbagger yanks...i suggest u go google on Geoff Twentyman to see where i am coming fm...i shall end wif some insightful quotes taken fm today's press...
BOTH the yanks and Rafa shall probably hv to go at the end of the day for the Reds to move on and up...the Reds need a totally new broom wif fresh new ideas and perspective...and i guess its curtains for this season...really hope to be proven wrong though... "...Everything that can go wrong is doing so at the moment said Benitez. But all the bad luck has done is to expose Liverpool's weaknesses. Where was the seond striker of note to cover the loss of Torres? Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane were bought and sold by Benitez to flourish elsewhere. Instead, the 20 year old lightweight David N'Gog, whoose entire professional tally for both PSG and Liverpool amounts to just four goals, led the line in a match of crucial importance. For a club that produced Ian Rush,Roger Hunt, Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen to be reduced to playing a striker so out of his depth is a damning indictment of Benitez's ineptitude in the transfer market. Given the thinness of his striking options, the manager's decision to spend the best part of 40m pounds on a right back and an injured midfielder is questionable. Worse was his insistence on picking N'Gog ahead of the the 11 million pound Ryan Babel, whom the manager seems determined not to give a run in the side. The Spaniard was then set upon by the Kop faithful when he chose to replace the constantly dangerous Benayoun with Andriy Voronin, a player Benitez rated so poorly as to loan him out last season...Voronin had zero impact on the game..." [AFP] "...Alberto Acquilani might be a suitable replacement for Alonso. The problem is no one knows because he has not played since his summer transfer and the folly of purchasing an injury-prone player amid a rehabilitation programme has not been lost on a section of Liverpool fans. That is down to Benitez. So was the bizarre decision to substitute Yossi Benayoun, Liverpool's goalscorer, 10 minutes before the end when the Israel international was their brightest and a tireless worker..." [Frank Malley] "...Three defeats in a row can do a lot of damage to a team's confidence and it showed yesterday morning. That said, it was evident in the Lyon game that the squad is lacking in depth. Our top 12 or 13 players can rival the best players at Chelsea or Manchester United but we don't have much quality in depth. While Fernando Torres is a world class striker, his replacement David N'Gog is a young boy who has yet to show his quality in the Premiership, let alone the Champions League. Andriy Voronin certainly wasn't good enough for Liverpool last season when he was loaned out to Hertha Berlin, but even he got a nod ahead of Ryan Babel yesterday..." [Phil Thompson] "...Without Gerrard and Torres, they look a very ordinary group of players. It's no good Benitez saying I haven't had enough money. If you've been there five years, brought in 68 players, you should have more than that after five years. You should be able to cope better with losing two players..." [Graeme Souness] "...Alan Hansen pointed out that Benitez's signings in the 3m to 10m pounds category have largely floundered. Remember Morientes (6.3m), Sissoko(5.6m), Pennant (6.7m) or Lucas(5m)? Hansen who believes that you need four or five players in the 3m-10m bracket to become great buys also highlighted Man United's successes with Vidic(7m) and Evra(5.5m) as examples to follow. Benitez definitely hasn't helped himself with his woeful transfer market record. Perhaps Liverpool's lack of depth in the squad is not a matter of Benitez not being given more money afterall. Also baffling was Benitez's demand to be given direct control of Liverpool's youth policy two years ago. It resulted in the head of academy, Steve Heighway, resigning right after their second successive FA Youth Cup triumph. Has any player come through the youth ranks to stake a claim for a regular first team slot since? If there has been an improvement so far, it certainly isn't obvious." [Gary Lim] Quote:

have been hearing abt him, and he was impressive during the match against s'pore, was creative and got good vision too.. hope to see him feature in 1st team, can come on towards end of match, he's a player more likely to create something than voronin or ngog. anyway, can't be worse than them... he's a bit lightweight, but neither rosicky nor sami nasir is any bigger...

Of course not. Half cooked journalists (and blinkered ex-players) can spin their own yarns and bring them out when the team is struggling. How convenient. Of course you may still hold on to the same line. The problem with the Rafa regime is how it has divided the fans and ex-players. I'm fine with it. I'll just let the manager do his job the best he can. |
