Together with my ex-wife for 15 years, from puppy love to wife to ex-wife. Until i received court notice on the 4th Day of CNY that year.

I growth up in boys school and no GF until i met my ex-wife when i was 19 yr old. I used to think that i was fortunate and the first marriage would last forever.. until..

I always believe if we can control our emotions not to start any affairs, the marriage will last. Unfortunately I could control but my ex-wife couldn't... haha...

I thought i would never married again (i was 34 when i divorced) and never wanted to start any relationship again. Until i met my Nei Mongol GF (3 yrs after divorced)and i proposed to her on the 2 mth and we got married on the 10th mth.

Now i am living happily in China and planning to have kid soon.

So for those having broken heart right now, never say never....

bro Laike, nicely written!
there's always a time & place for things to happen, be it local or on foreign soil. and i applaud your sentiments on "never say never"... there's always lessons learnt in the daily encounters & experiences in life, so long as we learn from the past, and not dwell in it, at the end of the day, things can only get better.

You will never know till you really go try it out be it success or failure. But at least you did try before.

Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

I applaud ur faiths people. But, its hard to retain that faith. Having to get up each time, only to fall again. Sometimes, I find that its like a B.S. crash dummy exercise. Either that or we are in some stupid ENCAP (crash test). If survive, we get 5 stars. If die, get nothing.

Reality is cruel. Not everyone will be lucky. I no longer believe I'm lucky.

Just when I thought God gave me a chance to try, I fell again. What hope is there? Fool's hope? If the Almighty wants to take me away, I don't mind just shutting my eyes and forget that I ever tasted the forbidden fruit of love.

And, I can literally understand why some guys remain players for as long as they breath. Its just not worth the time to court a gal, only to hear her say, "Nothing is for sure in this world."

What to do? The only thing for real is money. Its the very thing that gives security to whichever gal falls in love with you. People say save money to get married. I say save money to make more money. Spend money on dating doesn't promise anything. Effort committed in a marriage may come to naught, once divorce is in sight.

Don't need to share

But, my point is don't trust women too much, especially those stupid bl**dy singapore girls. We got only one life. Its not that long, but we can make it shorter by wasting time and money on local girls.

Derelict deserves a Tiger! - He's a Good Guy
Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

Hi guys, I am back to this thread yet again. So please bare with me a lil and try to see where I am going with this. Again, please read it with a pinch of salt. Please take it as light reading and again no offense meant.

Wow are singaporean girls demon incarnate? But seriously...

I sense many cynic postings after my initial post. Clinical as it may sound but it is a cynical remarks all the same by some. Let me illustrate an example. You picked a wild flower only to know later its an ivy. Like the name inply you got poison and you blame all the flowers to be the same. Like the flower, gone are the facts that one mother is a singaporean. Gone are the facts that the sister we stay and grow up together are singaporean as well. Its usually the jilted that will loose sight of the facts and do the blame game.

Back to the flower, so how do we know if its an ivy and not some innocent flower? You get acquinted with the species than you will know how to spot the plant. This can only come to pass thru understanding or at lease learn to understand whats sits before you.

Its easy to do the blaming game but have any of you ever really put the effort in trying to understand what and who is standing in front of the mirror and know what any of you are capable of better yet know ones limit? I bet you were thinking I might be refering to the singaporean girls didnt you. Well you are wrong, lets talk about us guys.

In most scenarios girls are waylaid like all the time by guys during their courtship. Most guys at one time will brag about what they have and what they can do for them. Promises after promises only to be broken. Funnily enough those promises that speak of giving the moon in a small beautifully wrap gift box are the ones that always seem to misplace the relationship trust. They enter the relationship with lies and expect that to last. It might work for some but let me assure you it will not last most of the time.

I agree I paint an extreme picture but be that as it may the point i am making does exist at one time in any given relationship. Be it a small white lie or a major league lies that build on other lies to garner and secure a relationship. to be honest (no punt intended) Singaporean guys love to talk 'cock' infront of girls. Remember guys at the end of the day, those damn girls that some of you curse will be the wife of so and so one day. Like it or not it usually happens and most of the time they live happily ever after or you might read it in the news paper due to the fault of another major league liar.

No I dont think us guys are made that way when we were born. It is just who we are as singaporeans. We are materialistic. Come on, please believe that mate. We are afterall affluent and doing the paper chase is what we live for. It is what the country leaders want us to be. Thus, the lies that one make without realizing due to peer pressure and the wants of all the citizen will only adhere and be satisfied only by the dollars that is in the banks. The more the better.

Okay I am done with the opening. So are we doom to fail getting a singaporean lass?

No. Let me point out a good beginning.

The solution for a good start. Be upfront after the initial intro ( see I am not preaching tell the truth and nothing but the truth thingy). Show her what you really are before real emotions plant its seeds. So if she dont like what she see... let her go and aim for another. Better yet, aim for what is within your reach. I mean seriously if you are a clerk dont expect a singaporean power suite exec lah. Maybe for one nighters but dont expect a relatioship come out of it. That only exist in once apon a time in lah lah land and definately not in paper-chasing materialistic Singapore you dont!

Just my anacdote for the day. No animal died from the exposure from the above post.

Edit: sounds abit abrupt. Well, if you read my earlier post and remarks. You get the big picture.

Re: The one you marry, is not the one you loved most?

Erm... I am seriously wondering if marriage is viewed from an economical sense?

Ie wld u want to get a highly educated wife, together with ur income, achieving 8k per month? Build up the love nest?

OR

Be with someone who truly loves you, yet life is normal.

Life is so contradicting....
