Nowaday in Batam,i really have to watch out for the price before and after a certain percentage of discount becos its becoming a trend for retail and service enterprises to bring up their prices up high up before they start throwing in the % discounts.

I have guessed the increase in prices for Formosa's Vienna restaurant,King Massage and New Spa before they did when their membership discount were out. Applies for a few certain few booking joints too,hehehe...luckily i am now at a safer distance just onlooking.

The Higher End booking joint DO NOT have girls below 1 juta (whereby some big fat ugly girls also can cost a juta and/or above in a few certain higher-end joints. Couple of runaway girls costing 1.4 to 1.5 juta having left at 1am+ etc etc also there.). The lower end booking places STILL have girls below 1 juta. The market there from my own perspective is, pay low to get most of the good stuffs or pay high to get the "probably-craps" today.

As always, some luck and mostly common sense still plays an important role in all cheonging scene anywhere in the world,hehehe...

Like yourself,i am not a night-life person (in Batam) too,hence I find Batam more suitable for me. You mention all the good things,how come no bad things about Batam? Not fair ,hehehe...

Batam is getting more expensive,but I found my own solution. Transportation can be a pain if one isn't used to taxi without running on meter and unlicensed taxi drivers. Touting is common,streets were dirtier,most tourist infested area were more carrot-head-chop prompt,terrorist-prompt and/or strike-prompt. Many Sillyporean were known to spoil the market since 60% who goes to Batam were them. Most of their comments on Batam were...Batam things "so dirt cheap"...hehehe... yet they unknowing (or unwisely) pays more than other 3rd world countries and later complain Batam is getting more expensive.

But luckily over the recent 2 odd years,there was an major influx of Foreign workers from sillypore going to Batam which beats many Sillyporean in terms on spending on girls (remember,a handful of them tries to undercut bro S girl last year by paying higher price?). Then again, many girls didn't like them (the FW) which results in them running away or citing reasons to do so (or they will indirectly force customers to throw them out). Those girls applies those many rules (including the 3 bonk rules which is becoming more frequent,according to this thread) for the foreign workers to Sillyporean over time and now,look at what happen,hehehe...

Look beyond Nagoya area,those higher-end booking joints and Wechat girls,i tends to see more green pasture in Batam,hehehe... the grass is often greener over the other side of batam. Batam is amazing, isnt it?

This white BKT is one of my fave in Batam.. Soup is good..

For the carrot cake stall, the black version is better than the white one.. The white one is not so nice. The one at Pasar Pasir Putih is better. The laksa from this stall is quite okay..

Bro, the one that u are referring to is Marine Live Seafood, but it's closed down already..

Hai Ou is in a residential area nearby Top 100 Penuin; you can search for "Hai O" in Google map and it'll show u exactly where it is..

The food is quite good and one of the cheapest in Batam downtown area. Would rate the value at 9/10 and food quality at 7.8-8/10...

Signature dishes include 鱼头炉, sambal petai (I love it with prawns & tofu), 三杯鸡, black pepper crab...
