I agree on Lucas. I wonder how he was once the best player in the Brazillian league. He seems to be a starter for Brazil Under 23s. Defensively, I wish Lucas is stronger. Always seem to be wrong footed by a feint from an opponent.

Great result this morning. We broke their unbeaten run this season.

Bro, Lucas is always in Rafa's plans because he has good qualities which our midfielders don't have - good distribution and an ability to get forward and link up the attack. So he complements Mascher very well compared to, say, Alonso, who doesn't have the same mobility or willingness to go forward.

Of course some fans like to criticise what Lucas lacks - he does lose the ball and he is not physically strong. But if Rafa wants someone like that, he would have paired Momo with Mascher and not sold the Mali player to Juventus. Let's try to see what qualities Lucas has than what he does not have. We have won many matches with the Mascher-Lucas combo.

Overall, a very difficult match last night and I was really impressed by Marseille's passing and movement. We sat too deep in the last 15 mins and should have really paid for it.

Stevie did well for us with his goals and so did Pepe with his saves. I thought Babel deserved a mention for his aggression both as winger and striker. If he continues to play like this, this could be a great breakout season for him.

A win is always a good start to the CL, at least we dont need to go through the difficlut way like last season...

As long as benetiz plays 4-2-3-1 like last night, with gerrad and torres in the middle, it always looks deadly.

Really looking forward to saturday's game, build up some goal difference and overtake Chelsea!

only caught the second half of the game and agreed with bro rahl, we sat too deep defending in the last quarter of the game, and marseille probably would have score if their striker is sharper.

But we get the result, and its a good win, considering the other 2 teams in the group. and if 10points will qualify to the next stage, we have got more then 25% of the points. its definitely a good start as compared to last season.

as for Lucas, persoanlly feel he is doing reasonably well, he is still young, give him some more time and hopefully he can get better and learn. Alonso distribution has been good, but guess he is those more passing then running player. and with Rafa, who likes to choose his team based on opponent, having both of them plus Mascherano will give him more option to tinkle with the team.

yup not only u the rest who had doubts abt him n who think we r a 1 man or 2 men team,babbel is going to be big n the boys did us proud against the scums with out sg n ft,we brought on sg 20 mins b4 fulltime n kept ft underwraps.hopefully jus maybe this will be a big season 4 us premiership wise.

stats sometimes can be misleading... cos it depends on the teams lucas played against... i dont see him getting his share of playing against the bigger teams...

btw, why did we pool fans get so excited about beating manure??? it is expected of liverpool to hand them a hiding, isnt it? why didnt u remind them that? expected more from u...
