Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Did you watch the match? I believe the frenchman you were mentioning is Ngog right? Is he good? At $1.5 million pounds and 19 years old, Rafa spoke about him challenging for a place in the starting 11. So young so cheap so good? This feels so retro... the price is like we just bought Peter Beardley in 1987!

Yup... i watched the match! From the match, i don't think we even need to buy Barry, Alonso is good enough!Ya.. Ngog is pacy and sharp on goal.He scored with so many defenders around. From this match and those before, i can say that we have a very talented group of young second string players that can take over anytime in the EPL.Another note, there is really an over hype by Rafa on the Keane/Torres pairing.I would rather see Ngog/Torres in attack.

But you compare him to Cisse leh... Cisse isn't that great a player. Seldom passes, seldom scores... a one trick pony who can run fast and shoot hard only. I dun recall Cisse ever trying to lob a goalie in a 1-1 situation. |

On the other transfer note, as read from the espnsoccer website, it seems like G Barry could join Liverpool if we met Villa's valuation. Reports seem to suggest that it's all down to Liverpool to make a decision on getting Barry. Pardon me... but I just dont know why we do need Barry that earnestly? I was initially hoping to see we sign a couple of natural, good wingers instead... but I suppose if we done the deal with Barry... he could very well be the last player to join Liverpool this season.... which means we gonna see Kyut, Pennant, Babel, Benayoun playing out wide again? Sigh... |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
i think that Barry will definately complement the midfield as he can both score & defend and link up well with Stevie G plus they have good understanding as they are good mates. a midfield with barry, gerrard, mash, alonso is definately mouth watering indeed..........So bring him in........messer Benitez & the yanks (pls provide the cash pls)...........
also, the rangers game last nite remind everyone the class of yossi benayoun.........the way he dribble & run & he seems to be more hardworking this season with the way he chases after the ball.......juz like kuyt..........only complain i had of yossi is that he tends to overdribble & should shoot more on sight........... torres, as usual look sharp & i was impressed with both ngog & nemeth...........keane look a bit rusty but should get better as the season progress..........really looking forward to the new season........... come on you reds!!!!!!!!!!!! |

barry will go straight into the team playing as the defensive midfield alongside mascherano, with alonso as backup thus freeing gerrard to wreak havoc upfront... well, at least for me. question is whether this option is worth 18mil. Quote:
1. he has not got used to playing with the team yet, thus he didnt see. but then again, he was doing a milan baros and not looking up. think he needs more time. 2. he was trying to impress the boss. so, ngog still has a long way to go. keane on the other hand, i just forgot how graceful and effortless he was whenever he got the ball deep and bring up, always looking to pass. keane and torres still have a long way to forge a good strike partnership, but i have no doubt they will be a roaring success. Quote:
but rangers didnt put up much of a fight except for the first half. a friendly is still a friendly, although tackles were still flying around. just hope that pool can play with such a high tempo when the league starts. liked the way they pressed the opposition so much that they didnt have much time on the ball to look for passes... bros, no offence if i didnt agree. just putting it up for discussion. cheers. So if people can look at what Rafa does and what he says, they will realise he is NOT going to get a winger, who can play only one position and live and die on the sidelines (literally). |

MON blasted Rafa for speaking to the press on Barry first isnt it? and now the drama is set to drag on, and certainly will be interesting to see wat will happen to Villa if Barry did not move and stay with them, how will others react? playing with a player that wants to move on....... but i certainly feel Barry will be good for us, especially with mascherano not around, and will need to fly all over to SA for Arg WC qualifier, Barry have the experience and having played with SG, does not need the bedding in period, but then again, who knows, maybe Damien Plessis can do what Mascherano and Barry can do......he might need more experience though. Anyway i feel, whether Barry comes, or not, the team that is most effected is probably Villa.

i do feel he tends to shoot more then pass, which is wat a striker should be doing, saw him shoot at goal from outside the box (hope i did not get the wrong player) he do look good with his movement though, and also control. Quote:
benayoun, was as hardworking as in the last season, always 'disturbing' the opposition defenders, if i am the defenders, sure dun like to see him ard, remembering last season, in one of the game, he was the player who rob the ball back outside the oppo penalty box and created the goal for SG (if not wrong) well certainly hope this season we can win the league, cheers YNWA

Yes it's alot of money for Barry but I think many fans are upset cos it means Alonso has to leave (not sure about this from Rafa's latest comments). It means we are being treated as a top club by smaller clubs, so I suppose we should accept this in future and get along with it. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
If you guys remember, after Rafa won the champions league in his first season (coming back from 3-0 down in the first half somemore), there is a saying among Liverpool's fans. It's called 'In Rafa we trust'. Rafa wants Barry so much. I'm sure he would have a system in mind already where Barry's inclusion adds value and an extra dimension to the team. It's just that we, as fans, can't find out how this system will go exactly yet. I will trust Rafa's judgement on Barry. To be honest, Alonso has had a forgettable season last year by his own high standards. Knowing how his place is in danger, I think we will see Alonso back to his best.
The other issue to me will be the youngsters. I think it will be a waste if they are only to play in the reserve league or the earlier stages of the League cup only. How many high quality competitive games will they get per year? We should loan as many out to Premiership or Championship sides as possible. We have a very good crop of youngsters, better than any team's youngsters, including Arsenal's and Man U's. |
