Almost 99.99% you have to pay her maintenance.
You can only fight to pay as low an amount as possible.

I have known of people who were undischarged bankrupts and they were still ordered by the family court to pay maintenance.

Is this some loop hole legalised way to take money out of CPF? I mean, if you pay for the flat with only your CPF, then you ar gah leow with your wife, divorce and give her 50% in cash, means can take cash out of CPF? Then go back countryside live happily ever after

U simple don't get it. We guys are saying that this WC is easy for women to exploit and make the men suffer, irregardless of whose fault is bigger in a divorce or even none at all by the men.

You got it wrong bro, cash cannot be taken out from cpf...... you have to cough out from your own pocket and on top of that you still need to top up the shortfall in the cpf account...... double whammy

This one alone make people go crazy until want to kill the other party or go jump.

There is only one reason I can think of why divorced women are not taking alimony. They are getting married to their lover soon after and alimony will be terminated anyway, so why bother?

Sorry to hear about your situation bro. Anyway you can get her to meet up without lawyers to rationally and peacefully discuss terms ? If not, have to fight it out and then your lawyer meet her lawyer and then this that will end up costing more to both parties. If can just meet up and talk nicely, may make things less painful and have things end faster.

No..... me no lawyer lah
But I was a volunteer social worker (probation officer)...... most of my assignments were teenage delinquents and sad to say many of them turned out the way they did because of dysfunctional families or single parent homes...... so I know a fair bit about the womens charter and its after effect.
