Bro IK, like you I'm not a believer of coincidence but I believe things happen for a reason (cause and effect, karma). 

If meeting her during the trip (cause) is the effect of you traveling, then why you would remember her during the trip when you have definitely come across many others? 

And if meeting her again is the cause, what's going to be the effect?

Very hard I must say. Sometimes when my work gets too stressed up and my Man at Home happens to light his ciggie at the balcony I would feel like grabbing it from him and take a puff.

I can only say it's a mind over body thing with a lot of determination when you want to quit smoking.
