But was raining heavily + night time so wat da heck. Today happen to take MRT map for fun and confirmed there is no MRT station at Major Ratchayothin.

1) Phahonyothin MRT station is between Chatuchak & Lad Phrao MRT stations.
2) If you get of at Phahonyothin station you will end up at Major Ladphrao.

Which isn't a bad thing coz Major Ladphrao also have shopping+cinema+eating places. There is Central dept store, cinemas, Union Mall + small a/c shopping mall & the usual roadside stalls. Its open during the daytime and attracts a lot of students... uni student uniform fetish tiz is the place for yah

Re: Bangkok Field Report

We're talking about particles here. Particles are the sounds that we inject into the end of statements, or questions, to convey a mood or effect. Singlish has a load of particles, such as meh, lah, sia, leh.

The particles in Thai do the same job.

Like krap (ครับ), na (นะ), ter (เถิอ), wa (วะ) is a meaningful particle.

Take note that 'wa' (วะ) does transmit an emotion. If you want to pick up a fight with strangers, you should go Arai Wa! (อะไรวะ) It sounds like "What the fuck!?"

It's a different 'wa' (ว่า) in pror waa (เำพราะว่า) and dtae waa (แต่ว่า).

So wa (วะ) doesn't make things sound more polite, it does the opposite. If you hear people talking, they usually don't use wa (วะ) to end their lines.

krap ครับ is the basic polite form for men. You can even acknowledge or confirm something just by saying krap. Women may sometime use it as well, because it's actually a very polite form. The background is that the original form was ko-rap ขอรับ, which means "Please receive". As language evolved, it was simplified to krap.

kap คับ is the colloquial form. It is used more often than the above, purely because you don't want to sound too formal sometimes. However, if you meet someone for the firstime, and want to impress the person, start with krap and then move on to kap as the conversation flows.

krap-pom ครับผม is actually "Yes Sir!". Highly affirmative in tone. You use it in the army, or when you're a servant, answering to someone. So if you ever want to impress your future father-in-law, you can go Ko-rap Krap Pom (ขอรับครับผม). You may end up pissing him off too, if he thinks you're overly polite...

ka คะ ค่ะ is the polite form for women. Exceptions is when you talk to your ti-rak, then you can use ka as well.

na นะ is a softer form. If you listen to radio shows, the dj always use na-krap นะครับ Since Arai (อะไร) standing by itself may sound rude, we soften it by adding na (อะไรนะ)

Well, there's nothing grammatically wrong with saying Kop Khun Mak Krap, but I guess the taxi driver wasn't expecting such officious thank yous. A simple Chok Dee Na would be sufficient.

You are welcome but to walk from Phahonyothin to Major Ratchayothin is rather far... maybe about 10 to 15 minutes?

Re: Bangkok Field Report

Well, actually Thai is quite an easy language to learn. For one thing, it share similarities with some of the languages that Singaporeans are already familiar with, such as Teochew and Malay.

Chatting with people in Yaowarat can be quite interesting. I heard someone say "si-sua" when he described some unscrupulous traders.

The key thing to learning anything fast is to make sure the journey's fun.

Good piece, sort of puts the krups (I short circuit to kaps) kas and nas in perspective.

Re: Bangkok Field Report

here's my FL for my bkk trip, heading back to boring sg tonight.

Angel Massage
Gal name : Jead
Cost : 1900 baht for 1 hour (check with her, LT she charges 3200 baht)
Service : 8.5/10 (Will RTF when i come back to bkk, this time round book her for LT as i got her num from her!)

Rainbow 4 A-go-go
Gal name : can't ream
Cost : 2000 baht for ST (she quoted me 4000 baht for LT but seems like she not keen on LT) + 600 baht bar fine
Service : So-so , will not RTF

Lolitas (BJ parlour)
Gal name : say
Cost : 700 baht + 200 baht tips
Service : She looks the youngest there and prettier, the rest turns me off cos all aunties. Service is good, alot of throating although i prefer licking sensation. Good for those low on budget on the last day of the trip but need a release.

Overall... i think angel massage gals service is better then those a-gogo... think my next trip, i will give a-gogo a miss.
