not sure what really transpired between SAF, guardiola and bayern but that is water under the bridge. guardiola has come out and ruled himself out of the running to take over at United. much as i hope he would come over, i guess the timing now is just not right. he is a big man and i am sure he would honour his contract with bayern. i was looking at last night's CL semis between real and bayern with an eye on the chances of ancelotti being made available after this season. as also reported in the papers, if real end up with just the copa del rey and miss out on both the la liga and CL, ancelotti may end up having to leave real and United should swoop for him. compared to van Gaal who has yet to coach in england, ancelotti is a proven winner there already. mourinho, if he had come to United, may keep us challenging for honours this year. but his style of football is not what we wish to see. oops....but that was exactly what we saw thus far with DM in charge. hahaha. that was another reason DM had to go. it was not just the losses. it was the way we lost. and as for the BPL, pool deserves to win it this year. please accept my advance congratulations on your 19th title. but i will not be able to bear witnessing SG lifting up the trophy though. as a football fan, i wished JC had delayed his retirement by a year and he would then have gotten his league medal. all the best to pool then. we will be back next year.

And when he 1st came to Old Trafford, he told the world clearly tat he wanted to be his own man n not be in the shadows of the "GREAT SAF"..thus he went abt changing n undoing a no. of things built up by Fergie to his own detriment..if the guy u r succeeding is great, it is pure common sense tat u shd follow into his footsteps rather than try to be different, humbly learn frm him to continue his successes rather than to attempt to change the things his esteem predecessor had built up just to prove he wants to be someone different frm SAF !!..Lol, such arrogance !..indeed he got his own wishes granted !..a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts..

Agree wif u bro that CA is better than VG comparatively..& he is doing pretty well at Real Madrid now !..n he has jus started the 1st season wif them not so long ago..but like u said, there is a chance somewat tat he might be the boss at Old Trafford one of these days !..if RM dun win as much honours as they would like... & Congratulations to Pool n their fans after a 24 yr wait !...the title shd be theirs pretty soon !...in 1 or 2 weeks time...Like their club's theme song "You will never walk alone" !

I have been a Reds fan since 1974 when they beat Newcastle in the FA Cup Final, the days of Keegan & Toshack with Shankly on his swansong and the Reds on the rise, and never looked back. Seen the Reds through glory, great tragedy & sadness, wilderness, false dawns etc., and the one appealing aspect that never fails to excite me regardless of whether the Reds are on the up or down, is the great rivalry between Manu & Liverpool, from the days of Docherty and the Greenhoff brothers and Gordon Hill, through the days of the colossus Ferguson with Robson, Cantona, Keane & Ronaldo, to Moyes and now beyond. I personally won't be counting my chickens until they hatch, or in this case till the EPL trophy is in Reds colours and in Gerrard's hands, but yes am very excited and anxious as well, 24 years is a long time! Actually think this situation mirrors the time when Bryan Robson finally got his hands on the EPL trophy with ManU, funnily enough Gerrard is now even being called Captain Marvel which was Robson's original nickname! Bad luck for Carragher though but guess that's the luck of the draw in life. Finally like I said above, am sure ManU shall be back stronger and am looking forward to the continued rivalry between them and Liverpool! Quote:
Now back to your more interesting point on Fergie's choice to succeed him, agree with you, think Pep was indeed his first choice, that is why I think Fergie appeared to be surprised to hear that Pep had signed on at Munich instead, probably disappointed as well. Oh yes on a very interesting and different perspective on why Moyes failed to succeed at Old Trafford, I suggest you read Matthew Syed's article in The Times, titled "Mere mortal could not hope to escape Sir Alex Ferguson’s shadow" which was reproduced in yesterday's ST, sorry don't have the link. In a nutshell, Syed opined that Fergie's greatest skill/power was to extract every last drop of commitment out of each and every one of his Red Devils who were captured under Fergie's spell. That was why even a relatively not so great ManU team like the one that won last season's EPL title and just lost out by goal difference the season before that, performed so dismally this season. Looks like Moyes never stood a chance. There appears to be only one SAF, so much so that even Harvard has appointed him to its academic roll, a once shop steward from Govan no less, truly remarkable and amazing! |

i watched as pool with dalglish, kennedy, lawrenson, keegan, hansen, rush, aldridge, barnes, souness, beardsley (and the list goes on) brush all before them in england and europe. but i hung on to robson, moses, bailey, moran, stapleton, duxbury, albiston, strachan, hughes, wilkins, hoping that one day, united will indeed come out on top. then came sir alex, who we all know struggled through his early years at united too, and his fergie's fledgings or now as they are known, the class of '92 of giggs, the neville bros, scholes, butt and beckham. the final piece of the jigsaw was cantona. and a glorious 26 years at the summit of the league ensued. the pendulum has swung pool's way after 25 years. the way pool is playing this year, i must say that they are worthy champions. or should i say, if they eventually win it, they will be worthy champions. i do look forward to your posts here. you are a true reds fan - someone who has the passion of supporting a club through good times and lean times and not one of those fair-weathered fan who enjoys bad mouthing and hurling names onto rival clubs.

Thxs for joining us as a rival fan & sharing in tis discussion of DM.. Quote:
The Red Devils played well last nite prolly cos Moyes was gone at last n it was only Norwich...Giggs, the interim manager is their buddy so believe they gave him the respect n support needed...if Giggs really makes it good for the last 3 matches of the season, perhaps he shd become VG's no 2 next season n bid his time n learn the positives frm VG until VG leaves which won't be v. long whence he can take over as full-time manager for maybe the next 25 yrs like Fergie wif United playing the same exciting brand of football like previously scoring goals galore ! ..Yes, GGMU !!

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
I was reading an interesting article this morning. It was clearly penned and voiced that a handful of Manchester United players were not pleased with the appointment of David Moyes even before he took office. The most obvious was RVP, whom with there was numerous reports of unhappiness between the pair.
The fury elevated to the next level when he failed to strengthen the squad over the transfer window. It is not rocket science to learn the only backing David had was from SAF and Sir Bobby. Wayne Rooney had made a call to David and personally thanked him for saving his United career. While most players were taking the news pretty easy and seemed rather happy, Rooney was said to be behind his former manager. Personally, I feel David deserved more time at United. Yes, many will compare Everton and Manchester City. No 2 fingers are the same. Watching yesterday's game, I can't help but conclude, in the opening 20 minutes or so, the team displayed a dismay performance. There is a reason for SAF to implement his 'hairdryer' treatment. United played for David to be fired. Against Norwich, they played for Ryan Giggs. Pierre. |

Hopes Chicharito starts instead Danny Welbeck.
No point rushing RVP back if he's not fully fit.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Academic match, still Giggsy failed in 2nd half (after insipid 1st half). Wtf did he replace Mata. Pussy was just that, rather invincible. After Mata, distribution was gone. Carrick has always been CMI. Not inspiring, always too safe. Wellback, no matter. Nani just reinforced his nick balloon king.
Sunderland deserved the lifeline, no matter MU's #7 position.
