Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
If you are near Greenbelt, head to one floor above Havana, and there is Banana Leaf, a Singapore style restaurant serving Prata, and local favourites .. just don't faint at the price, though, in Singapore price, it is a bargain. Like, price between 5 $ to 15 $ for a nice meal .. in Philippines price, it is pricey .. but for the ambience .. and location, and availability, it is worth it ..
http://www.munchpunch.com/banana-leaf-greenbelt-3/menu PS: don't expect 100% authentic taste, as it has been filipinised to some extent .. Personally, I never felt bad paying by Credit Card in Philippines, vs being terrified to use it in Malaysia .. of course, I make sure the amount if fair to justify the use of card .. beer is available everywhere .. where will you be putting up ?

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
never saw the roast pig or tried it, in Banana Leaf ..
you can also check out the nice Indian joint at Greenbelt, Bollywood, though I would steer clear of the Indonesian joint there (too fxxking sweet - even in Ox Tail Soup .. ) Of course, you can also head to Makansutra, at Ocean Park ... for Singapore 'street food' .. again, be prepared to be a bit disappointed as the food as been filipinised ..

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
In Greenbelt, about 2-3 shops to the left of Banana Leaf, there is this chinese resturant called Tao Yuan. They also serve some Singapore food. One of their more popular dish is the Hainanese Chicken Rice......not too bad.....can try especially if you miss Singapore food.

Re: phillipines, manaila, makati
Food glorious food!
GB3 - lunch time teppanyaki set is always good at Nanbantei of Tokyo Greenbelt 3, level 3 (same as the cinemas). too bad they closed haiku, their lunch sets were really good too. - ma maison has good and relatively decently priced tonkatsu set ~ 400 php for a more than decent sized portion meal - bizu is a good french eatery, nicely priced. for more atas french food go to chateau 1771, it's quite good and still relatively decent priced cf sg's prices - mesa has good filipino fare, best enjoyed in groups of four and above, avoid weekends dinners though, the queue is horrendous unless you go there really early or really late - museum cafe (at ayala museum) has an interesting menu with asian + continental fusion fare. their chef is malaysian, so tastes pretty ok personally i avoid italianni's, can't really stomach (pun fully intended) paying so much for average italian food. but the portions are really huge, so is value for money if you are there with lots of hungry friends. not to forget - there's also ukokkei ramen, which is IMO the best ramen in makati (stone's throw from gb, along pasay road, opposite fujitsu service center) be warned though that their service attitude is bad. really bad. i often don't tip them, lol... but then again i am sorta a cheap charley |
