Re: Hotel licensee appear in court for allowing vice activities in premises

Just read from Asiaone on line :

A HOTEL owner was taken to court on Wednesday for allowing prostitutes to use the hotel rooms for their trade.

Siah Chen Long, 52, the licensee of Shing Hotel at Kitchener Road, admitted to contravening a regulation of the Hotels Licensing Regulations on Feb 10 (2010).

A magistrate's court heard that a police officer was keeping an eye for vice activities nearby when he saw a few women loitering outside Shing Hotel and approaching unknown male passers-by.

He and his colleagues moved in after the women had checked into the hotel with men. Upon checking three rooms, they arrested three women.

Investigation showed that two of the women earned between $50 and $100 by providing sexual services to men at the premises.

The prosecution sought a three-week adjournment to apply to the court to revoke the licence. Siah, who will return on May 12, may be fined up to $1,000 for the breach.

Sooner or later, TN owners will be facing the same charge in court.

If the authority clamped down on Fragance and H81 chains, imagine how many people will be out of jobs !!!!!! They only clamped down on the small fry, those one man ops hotel !!!! Its a smart move by the authority to use the hotel operators to reject the girls from operating in their premises instead of having the authority wasting their vast resources and manpower to round up these girls. Its a brillant idea from the authority scholars to come out with such idea !!!!!

Re: Hotel licensee appear in court for allowing vice activities in premises

Just curious how many people will be out of job? I think most probably it's only a few hundreds and the Singapore economy is big enough to absorb those who are retrenched from Fragance and H81 chains. The casinos still need people, so should not be much problem.

Re: Hotel licensee appear in court for allowing vice activities in premises

You gave a irrelevant case

In your case, the owner is charged because she bribed the police, made false marriage and false declaration to ICA to extend her stay and her massage joint does not have the license

That's why she was charged. Not because she run TN

Singapore has so many TNs and the cats know what the mice doing at TNs. If really want to charge, even the judges want to work OT, also no time

Re: Hotel licensee appear in court for allowing vice activities in premises

Read carefully item 4 :

4 Between 10 May and 16 July 2008, the Accused also managed a brothel by allowing her massage establishment to be used for sexual services by four masseuses who worked there. She instructed them on how much to charge for the sexual services, and imposed a $200 fee on them for allowing them to offer sexual services there. However, she only retained their earnings from massages, and not from the sexual services. This formed the basis for the charge under the Women’s Charter, for managing a brothel.

Talking Bossess wake up ideas

I think ppls complaints so authority took actions, maybe is the tip thing. 2yrs never check into hotel allready, remember short time paid deposits of $2 plus. The deposit never returned.

Anyway, i look out of box, this is a sign to local, foreign bosses check their employees. If they want to live liked that ''love" Taiwanese serials, the boss with spec who seems to have tons of $. Sleeping around and girlfriends gave birth to son, outstanding! Morale, Taiwan men r good in bed, women r easy to bed and giving birth to son.

That is other country, don't work here, tv show only, the serials is popular here. Well ppls here r easy to con, all wanted to win. I not sure, bossess wish to live this lifestyle, prepare to lost tons of $.

A good boss is allways around, take care of workers. Home stuffs stay at home.

Re: Hotel licensee appear in court for allowing vice activities in premises

And that's because she does not have the proper license to run a brothel

That's why she kena charged but I think the basis for her charges are still bribes and false marriage, false declaration

It's legal to run brothel if YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR THE LICENSE. With the approved license, women's charter also no use.

Can women's charter stop those legal brothels at geylang ?

i dun think there'll be a huge impact on jobs cos ea chain does not employ that many staffs. mainly 1 small recept counter n a few chambermaids. but i think it's more that the reputation of our tourism industry will be at risk should these big boys be raided.
