and there you are good to go.

Remember to tell them where u are going, whether it is shopping around tachilek (1day pass) or going to Mongla or Kengtung (14day pass)

You seem to be very experienced in this Mae Sai/Tachilek crossing. I myself had cross this border several times, and have not cross beyond Tachilek. (the 5km limit). I intend to go over to Kengtung, then Mongla, then to Yangon this Nov. Understand that there might be a problem from Kengtung/Mongla to Yangon by land. Might need to take a domestic flight. Need to hear your advice and see whether you have any experience to share on this crossing. Thanks a lot.

are you going to fly out of Myanmar from Yangon? or going back to Tachilek?

I dunno whether the Myanmar Officials would let you move on to Yangon with your passport...

hi bro, you are not allowed to travel from Kengtung to yangon by land. u ahve to fly and to fly you need to possess a Myanmar 28day tourist visa, obtainable from the embassy.

1 issue u might need to know regarding flying. i dont think you can fly to yangon from tachilek even if u have a tourist visa on hand. u can only fly to yangon from bangkok or elsewhere. tts what happened to my amaerican friend that was plannning a BKK-tachilek-kengtung-yangon-mandalay trip
he reached tachilek and found out he isnt allowed to board a plane even he has the visa. to fly he has to return to bkk and fly to yangon.

Hi Bro, when was that your friend travel. I have fly from Tachiliek to Yangon in 2005. They did not stop me from boarding the plane and I paid about US$96 for 1 way ticket.

Maybe you friend is Angmo that why he cant. For me no ploblem leh.

yo im back. here some photos i took during chiangrai to chiangmai trip. never really take alot.

Chiang Mai Nighttime food stalls. this is near vista hotel. will try to find ou the road name and map.



Below are photos of chiangrai bus station and you can see how big the seats in the coach. it very comfortable. take me about 5min plus to walk over to the bus station from wiang inn.
