Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London
tribute to Dean Richards, who passed away recently at 36 years of age.
i remember Richards didnt feature for spurs a lot due to nagging injuries, he was a solid rock when he played for the saints under hoddle. Salute and RIP. espn Richards moved from hometown club Bradford to Wolves in 1995, making 145 appearances in a four-year spell and becoming a crowd favourite. He subsequently moved on to Southampton, who were then in the top flight, where he spent two years before switching to White Hart Lane for £8.1million, despite the player not having earned any senior international caps for England. Richards, who played four times at under-21 level, spent four years in north London although his time there was dogged by injury. He retired in 2005 after suffering dizzy spells and headaches. He made almost 350 appearances in a career spanning 13 years before his retirement, before returning to the game in August 2007 as a youth team coach at Bradford. A statement on the Tottenham website read: "Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur was saddened to hear of the death of our former player Dean Richards, who passed away this morning at the age of 36 after a long-term battle with serious illness.'' It continued: "There will be a tribute paid to the defender ahead of our fixture next Sunday at Molineux against his former club Wolves. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Dean Richards at this very sad time.'' |

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London
wolves 3 spurs 3
tough game, with a 87th min equalizer from wolves. sigh... now standing 5th and same points with chelski but chelski got a game in hand against blackpool tonight. if you take the multi millioned man city who is in 4th position out of the equation, we'll have spurs sitting confortably in a champions league spot 6 points away from the next in line, liverpool. top scorers list as on 7 mar 2011. berbatov was awfully quiet in the 3-1 defeat by liverpool last night... Dimitar Berbatov 19 Carlos Tévez 18 Kevin Nolan 11 Darren Bent 11 Andrew Carroll 11 Rafael Van der Vaart 10 Kuyt destroys United |

super spurs 0 mighty milan 0 champions league quarter finals will be painted white! to dare is to do William Gallas clears the ball from the goal-line after Robinho's deflected effort espn Tottenham advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time with a battling 0-0 draw with seven-time European champions AC Milan at White Hart Lane. Peter Crouch's goal in the 1-0 defeat of the Rossoneri at the San Siro two weeks ago proved the decisive strike in the tie. Man of the Match - Sandro. Playing in only his second Champions League game, Sandro was a calming presence in the Spurs midfield, breaking up play and preventing his compatriot Robinho from dictating play. He looked assured on the ball, cool in possession and also launched a number of Tottenham's counter-attacks. Tottenham verdict: The attacking verve we have become accustomed to seeing from Spurs in the Champions League was lacking but, with the pressure of the occasion, it was perhaps understandable that Spurs took a more defensive approach. Michael Dawson and William Gallas were imperious in defence and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was impressively shackled. A disciplined if unspectacular display has Spurs fans in dreamland. |

We are now in the Quarter-finals. Next game West Ham United at WHL on 19 Mar, hopefully, no more excuses from our players to underperform with the break after Milan's game. Player - Rest well, train well, recover well and do not bring any rifle to training ground. It is the last stretch to the finishing point of EPL, do not relax, concentrate on the job at hand, game by game. COMON YOU SPURS!!!

West Ham just lost the FA Cup match to Stoke last night and will concentrate on securing the EPL status after this lost. However, this is a good time for Spurs to win as Man City will face Chelsea in this weekend's match (20 Mar) while they need to contend in the Europa League on the 17 Mar. Moreover, there are the unfavourable FA Cup semi-final draw against Man U. Arsenal seems like choking at this moment, again. Man U has many injuries worries (I do not think Spurs can overhaul Man U for the title, somehow I have this feeling Chelski is coming back into contention). Man City may have too many things to handle right now. Chelski is looking to securing UCL win as well as qualifying for next season above 3rd. Hence, for Spurs, matches like West Ham and Wigan do not allow us to slipped further if we intend to paint whatever streets white in th UCL. I just hope that with the break after the UCL match with AC Milan will help the player prepare for the West Ham match, bearing in mind that HR's has not perform well against AG's. COMON YOU SPURS!!!

there is no question they are a very good side, doesnt matter young team or not. just like in life, sometimes things just dont go your way. i think ledley should just retire already lah. had it been different, england would have done much better in international tournaments for the past decade with ledley in defence. espn Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted he is uncertain how long Ledley King will be able to continue at the highest level as a chronic knee problem continues to affect his ability to train. Ledley King's condition means he can never train and play in the same week King, 30, has been at Spurs his entire career and is club captain - but he lives a strange existence for a professional footballer as he is unable to train regularly with team-mates. The centre back was named among the substitutes for Tottenham's 0-0 Champions League draw with Milan and it was the first time he has featured in a matchday squad since October 16. King has played just four games this season and has been suffering with a groin injury that Redknapp believes can be attributed to his restricted training regime. Redknapp fears for King |

Re: Tottenham Hotspur - the Pride of London

I think King should stay, but as a coaching staff. He can help develop youngster into great defenders & defensive midfielders, which is what we need. Ledley has great vision, timing of tackle, positional sense and a great header (be it in attack or defence). We need a strong backline to allow our forward to charge without too much worries and I think Ledley can contribute to building a squad for us. So Bro... What's your take on this? Spurs must treasure this weekend's opportunity to close in on Man City and Chelski (becoz they play each others), slipping this weekend will not help in securing 4th position next season. He is also one of my favourite defenders. His ability to read the game is magnificent. His way of easing in and out during defending situations is really wonderful to watch. Too bad his injuries is keeping him out for most of the time, his partnership with Dawson will see our defence stronger. However, I do agree he is taking up squad space, which is why I think as a coaching staff he can still contribute a lot. Hopefully, it will be our dream come through. COMON YOU SPURS!!!
