For my personal view..I reckon we should also bear the share on how much our gal can drink...so if u more strict..RMB300 or 400 is also including the drinks for 2 pax or 3..if u got 2 MMs...

a lot of people also take opportunity to advertise here for business.. this i think nobody is against it as long as the service is good and it is value for money. However on the contary, the service is no good and that somebody is out to con or suck money, all brothers have the right to expose him/her without fear...

On KTV drinking cost

To the bros who is reading this thread:

I have cheong in dongguan since 2004, maybe my year of cheong may not that long compare to some seniors here, but certainly my stay in dongguan is not short.
Just in year 2006, I spent 133 days in dongguan, mainly CP, CA, humen and houjie.

The way I organized the ktv session is agreed on the drinking cost upfront, which I personally felt it is good to do so with the following reasons:

1. Set the expectation on budget. By knowing the exact spending amount, this will help the bros (especially to the newbies) to do the budgeting more accurate.

2. Avoid uncertainty. Since the cost is agreed upfront, there is no big surprises on the bill.

3. Drinking with the relax mood. With the fixed cost, you do not have to worry how much bottles have opened, and control yourself "not to drink too much, otherwise the bill will be high...".

4. Avoid unfair feeling. For the normal bill splitting, some bros might feel that "I do not drink that much, why should I share the cost evenly?" By mentioning the price upfront, if you think the price is not fair, then you have the option not to join.

5. This is one of the most concerning point, Flexible on moving. For the normal bill splitting, the total amount can only know at the end of the session. If some bros want to leave early (like 10pm) but some still want to stay longer, then how? For the one that leaves early, should he bear for subsequent drinking cost? The total of the bill can only know by the end of the session, this may indirectly forcing the one would like to leave have to stay longer. Which could potentially spoiled his mood. By charging the fixed cost, anyone can leave at any point in time.

6. Lowering the drinking cost. Generally, the way I do, can save about 20%-50% from the normal bill.


Some organizers, they will only show you the bill amount, but not the exact detail spent items, but for my way of doing, at the end of the session, I will always send a detail consumption report to the group, with the exact quantity on how many bottles, mixers have opened, and what is the cost if you go by so called "normal bill". And compare it against the cost that bros have paid to me. With this, everything is transparent.

I am not saying that my way of doing is better than others, but at least with my experience and my preference, this is the way that I feel it is solidly fair and transparent to everyone...

Agree with you on all pointers!!! No surprise on bills at the end of the drinking session fits my bill. Transparency is the way to go in China. I will definitely join your group if there is a chance.
