food wise i prefer back in sgp where i can eat at our neighbourhood kopi tiam. over here 50rmb (=$10) is easily spent on each meal.

worse is the crazy income tax most foreigners have to pay, probably 35-45% tax bracket.
I miss my wontan mee! Yes for daily meal for 1 pax, Singapore food is better and cheaper. But if want to have group dinner for Chinese food, here should be cheaper in general.
Car plate still cheap, about Rmb 50k+ and you can sell it in due course. COE is an expense since it depreciate. If lucky, you still can sell the car plate for profit in due course.
Housing in general is cheaper as well, 1 bedroom goes for anywhere rmb4k to 12k. SGD 800 maybe can get you a room in shared HDB in better location.
Not in tiong bahru thou, KTV girls had drive up the prices.
Studio in Singapore, I guess min SGD 2k but not in prime already but if you pay Rmb 12k here, you should be in prime area.
Don't mention income tax, last year Sep made adjustment. Ended up have to pay more. Waiting to see if this year wages adjustment can cover the tax difference and inflation or not.

whenever i get back sgp, it's char kway teow, wonton mee, prawn noodle (dry or soup), char siew rice, satay etc.....

the only way to pay less taxes is to increase your tax deductible component hopefully you can drop below certain tax bracket.

can't believe the amount of income taxes i've paid over the last few years. worst still, my CPF is all used up back home and i've got to top up my own CPF.

The days when you crave for char kway teow, wonton mee etc etc will diminished or soon be over, the longer you stay away from Singapore. More so when my high expectation turned disappointment whenever I get back SG and started eating them. This is based on my experience.

If you are an employee working for a SG firm, you could ask your company to put part or all of your pay into your SG account so long as you managed to live on the allowance &/or whatever part you choose to be paid in China.

In that way, all the salary you earn that are paid viz your SG account, you don't have to pay tax in either China or SG - provided you spend less than 183 days in SG. At the China end, only those money paid into your China bank account will be taxed.

Must remember to collect the "fa peow" from the tax department so that can remit the $ out of China when you are done.

If you are a biz person - please see your accountant

Bro DTCEPL,

Generally sauna is getting more and more pricer - Yes.

Si Yuan @ 818 Zhang Yang lu is going at RMB880 after the massive renovation - this is steep up from the price that I 1st knew.

Bodi @ Long Yang lu is going at around RMB890.

But still can find bargain.

Ming Dian behind Yaohan is still going at RMB580 in the afternoon. After 6pm (?) it is RMB680.

Their sister joint at Ling Ling Lu (Puxi) is going at less than RMB 500 for the full course.

I work for an MNC in Shanghai for several years already. Company does not want to do the above. So not much choice for me but to help myself.

As for cheonging.............stop that many years, getting old liao. too expensive here in Shanghai also. at the end of the day, girls are all the same, think we are all ATM machine (hahahaha).

Hi bro, as I m based here in China, most of my pay and claims go back to my SG account and my PRC account not enough to support my daily expenses and other needs..

Withdrawing from cirrus atms will have 5 SGD bank interest rates and remmitance also got 20 SGD interest per transaction.. So I m still looking for any bank which offers free transfers from SG account to PRC account..

Any advice to offer..

HSBC got free country to country transfers but i think they only offer to those premier accounts of 100K USD..

Re: ShangHai Recommendation!

Hi, Bros,

I was asking the same question in the Beijing forum, hope you do not mind as I find that people here are more into the sauna area. I will be going to BJ with friends and staying in Chao Yang area. So doing outcall is out of the question. I am wondering whether in BJ, there are some similar sauna that are good and safe?

Thanks in advance.

I dun think there are any SGP Banks that can offer FOC (Bank charges etc.) transfers to PRC account even when you opened accounts with the same bank in two countries.

Well, maybe u may consider it as a forced savings for your SGP accounts ......so that u dun spend too much on PRC MMs when u got more Maos in your hand.
