They are just "beings" with no physical bodies only. But they around us. Some people uses the knowledge to invoke them to do things that help them or harm others( not good).

You see ching ming and 7th month? people pray to give them things to eat, use and so on, to prevent mischief, or sometimes "pay back debts", owed to them.

You can learn more about them, but advice is not to engage them unnecessarily. You never know what you will be getting yourself into, if done improperly.
