From a cheongster buddy who doesnt want identity to be compromised as he is a SBF regular - Can anyone advise where to get this? acyclovir seems to be the only thing that my GP or DSC gives out. I want something to prevent outbreaks not just shorten it. Any advice welcome.

Bro Jackylee,

Blood test for herpes.

Oral herpes - 2 test per set - HSV-I IgM & HSV-I IgG

Genital herpes - 2 test per set - HSV-II IgM & HSV-II IgG

If all the above four turn out negative - means not affected by herpes

If all the above four turn out positive - means affected by both herpes types

If any of the one set of 2 test turn out positive - means affected by that type of herpes

If any of the one set of the 2 test turn out one positive and one negative - means recently got affected by that set type. Take another test in about 2 months to see if the 1st test type is a false alarm (when the 2nd test showed both negative) or confirmed affected by herpes when both that set test turn out positive.

if i dont have any systoms .. can i still go for the test?

Oral herpes - 2 test per set - HSV-I IgM & HSV-I IgG

Genital herpes - 2 test per set - HSV-II IgM & HSV-II IgG

Going for a test is a "personal choice" thing. It's up to you. If you think you will benefit from knowing whether you're infected, then go for the test. If it is of no concern to you, then don't.

Agree.. (not trying to por boss or what) but to me going for test..

1st. make myself stop worrying

2nd. if anything realli happen at least i know so i can live the rest of my life meaningfully..

3rd. so wont pose a threat to others (unless u purposely want to)

DSC is actually run by NSC (National Skin Center) dermatologists. Wha do U tk?

Condom doesnt help when it come to herpes..so it is ok not to use it when there is no outbreak... if there is an outbreak, using a condom will not help.. just dont do it during toutbreak period x 2 weeks after recovery..

yes u can still have babies... But you might want to inform the doctor just incase... but what i would suggest you to get your wife to check if she is infected with the virus... if she is not then dont have any sex with her until delivery.... if she has it then it is better if she don;t go thru normal delivery... normally they will go for cesarean

Dont worry... everything should be ok... just take the proper care and everything will turn out fine..

Mouth ulcers are not herpes. Oral herpes looks like this.
