Going to Dongguan alone is perfectly fine. Hopefully, you speak some Mandarin. I am assuming you probably do, since you sound like you are from SG. Most ppl from there do speak some if not fluent.
Well, here is what I recommend. Take the time to read the CP and CA thread. At least the posts in 2010. Lots of useful information in it. Before for my virgin trip, I spent about 10 hours over a period of a few days and read them all. I felt like I knew CP in and out just from the information other bro's provided. Do you research before hand. You will enjoy your trip 200% more.  Also, I highly recommend using one of the agent's service. They don't have any hidden charges and it is the same if you book on your own. No additional fees. The 3 recommend are Ken from GoFly (look for the GoFly advertisement thread in the stickies section on this page, HFIC (Have Fun In China) and ISO9002. They can arrange ride from airport to CP, book your hotel, arrange Mix KTV sessions, book sauna/bbs, and answer pretty much whatever questions you have. PM them and get their email. Chat with them on MSN for more info before you go. Other options are announcing when you will be CP/CA in their thread and ask if other bros wanna join up. Or PM other bro who is going to be there in your time frame. Please keep in mind that not everyone like to party with strangers, so take this advice with a grain of salt. Enjoy your trip.  Quote:

oh i saw the rates in the sticky thread lol
so only pay for the airport transfer and hotel? they will recommend the saunas and i'll just pay for the activities myself? any tips or other charges involved? paiseh ah, this is my first trip to dongguan and first time getting an agent as well. just wanna be safe. thanks!

If you are flying alone from Singapore either via Tiger or Silk air, then HFIC shuttle from SZ airport to CP @ only 70 RMB is the best way to travel.
Then you can choose any of the 3 agents you fancies to book the hotel and arrange for Saunas (if that is your prefer activities) or KTVs. Finally, you should do the agent you selected a big favor by helping to keep him honest- by posting a very detailed FR of the prices the agent charges you. Cheers -----enjoys Quote:

I have no idea at all. Never travel this route before. I cheapstake only flies discount airline to SZ airport one. For HK airport to CP, you should asked Cashking, he always travel this route nowaday. Quote:

From HKIA to CP, best offer I found was from Ken at GoFly. Only 170RMB one way. Last ride is at 22:00. MPV leaves every 30 minutes before that. The MPV will leave on time.
For example, if it is 14:30. Only 2 people in MPV, they will leave and not wait for more people. Next ride will be 15:00, etc. Very comfortable ride. Don't need to change cars at the border. Just make sure to fill out the paperwork before reaching customs and immigration. The drivers have extra forms. If no traffic and later in the evening, the driver can speed a little and get from HKIA to CP in about 2 hours. Normally takes about 2.5 hours. Quote:
