if base on 12k sgd, then it is abt 200 million vnd....its possible to buy house at the village of a certain province....ur friend is not able to be registered as the owner of the house..

but why shld ur friend buy that house???

he like the calm n less stressful lifestyle???

how old is he???....he planning to retire in a village already???

wat business opportunity???....he heard it frm his so called gf or he sees it himself....and how much does he knows abt of Vietnam???

of cos not every gals also out to cheat money...for instance,my properties in Vietnam also under my wife's name, and in fact, tks to it,i actually make some from the property market.

but ur friend case is simply ridiculous....know that gal for a few months, come to Vietnam twice, then wants to buy a house for that gal???

tell ur friend not to be rash and let time answer all doubts....if that gal is serious abt him, even if he dun buy the house, the gal will still love him....if the gal is not serious abt him,the gal will just basically throw tantrums at him everyday n use other ways to "force" ur friend in buying the house.....n when ur friend eventually buys, the gal will also not leave him.she will keep on "forcing" ur friend to buy other things....but the best part is,the gal might have another lover staying together with her when ur friend is not around.

just my 2 vnd worth of advice...

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

I think i have mentioned several times in this thread, individual foreigners cannot own land in Vietnam. Foreign companies can own a land with house built on it, but for a limited number of years. So any money poured in for the VN gal to buy land and house is money wasted and cheated.

As for doing business in VN, still too many singaporeans think its a thriving and cheap market with large population. Yes it is but its not cheap. Their business culture is very much different from Singapore and its also very much different from the developed nations. Lots of red tapes from government side and lots of different character to handle in the mist of doing business. At the same time, competition is very stiff. So its not as simple as just dumping money and the money growing like no ones's business. Singaporeans only hear of foreigners investing in vn and making money there, but there never hear of foreigners making huge losses and exiting the market after a few years.

Thanks bro... at least it clears my doubt.
Sadly... as mentioned above... he will have to learn the hard way

I do hope taking wedding photos together does not equate to marriage in VN... if not he will be in trouble!

Thanks everyone for the insightful comments!

lucky i gv the impression that i'm so fxxking poor that i can't afford to help her settle her ah long debt which is abt $1k(due to air tix for multiple failed attempt into sin), let alone buying her house $4k hehe... cannot let them know u got money... recently she only mention about iphone 3 and ask me to help her source second hand one... as usual i use ti gong tactic again...

she still entertain me until now but im thinking if i have got any use for her besides go there fetch her here... but recently she say no need go fetch her alrdy and she will come in herself next month.

oh yea when got chance she will suan me poor by saying other guys rich... cb!

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

when I took the speed boat to VT, thinking to stay at least few days. But after first night, don't really like the food there, next day took the early boat back to HCM. May be I didn't explore deep enough, should have given VT more time to explore, might go back again

as for Nha Trang, spent almost ten days there, no regret, explored the whole island, few days day tour with rented bike, much easier to ride compare to HCM. The mud bath and hot spring, must try. NIce seafood and local vnam food, even got Jap food at Nha Trang Centre (shopping center), of course nice beach with hot sun. Can swim even after dark, cos the beach got those lights like our stadium. After the swim, can buy seafood and beer at the beach or eat their "chewy gum" aka bbq cuttlefish.

then got island hopping, cheap and good, they even serve lunch and fruits on the boat, got live band to entertain you, got floating bar on the sea, visited a few marine aquarium, free snokering .....

Vin Pearl, must visit. is at another island, took either speed boat and highest cable car over. Everything is included in the island entrance ticket. One big Underwater World, one water themepark, another outdoor themepark, shopping and food, the best things is that.... the indoor themepark plus the video arcade, very funny.... if you are thinking to change to coins or token to play everything in the indor themepark, you will be disappointed .... why? they don't provide exchange serive? No, No, No...... Because everything is FREE in the indoor themepark/video arcade ...

So I spent lots of time in playing their bumper car... apparently, vietnamese are not good in driving and they try to avoid your car, So I became the hero of that day,

enjoyed so much during my 10 days stay in Nha Trang.... after trying all the beaches in vnam, I will definitely go back to Nha Trang again
