My case a bit different. When i married my wife, she asked a relative to help us do housework at 700K VND a month. I obliged as i thought not a big sum. Then when my gals came along, also got nanny from province and maid also continued. Got a point in time when my business was doing quite well, my household in VN got 2 nannies, 2 maids to clean house and 1 cook. But the salaries of all these maids is only equal to 1 maid's salary + govt tax in singapore. All these years, my wife has maid to help her take care children and do housework. I remember got a period of time in Singapore, we sent our indonesia maid back to agent and got to wait for around 1 month for next maid to arrive. My wife everyday temper not good as she needs to do housework. I helped her also but still got kids to take care. Maybe i give my wife too good life from the start, she cannot do without maid. Nowadays my health not good, so i also cannot do without maid.

What is the average wages of a person working in hcm?
Eg. Working at a restaurant , a sales person at a shopping centre..

How much is the average living standard for a local ?

The normal working adult (without degree) will earn around 3 million VND a month, roughly around S$182 a month. As most of these workers come from the province to work in the city, they got to rent a room. Rent of room nowadays will take up nearly 1/3 of their monthly salary. So these workers basicall live from hand to mouth every month. A local degree holder (fresh graduate) earns around 4 to 5 million VND a month while a foreign graduate earns around 6 to 7 Million VND a month.

3 - 5mil is definitely insufficient...most VBs will get bf to give some allowance...so anyway this is life to them...

seems to me another one wants to dump $$ into saigon river. give the $$ tio me lah i help u donate to charity better. help those in real need is better.

When i put advertisement on newspaper to recruit staff for my office, i got many applications. From fresh graduates to those with a few years of experience, all seem to be able to write english very well. But when it comes to interview, its quiet all the way. Only got 1 lady, who graduated from a private school in singapore can speak english very well, but she is a job hopper, 2 years 5 jobs. Finding suitable staff is not easy.

When u earn little then u spend less. Factory workers who might be earning 1 of the least in Vietnam or Thailand but yet they can survive day to day as long as no one at home shaking leg, gambling, life is still manageable.

let me share here in sinkie...back in 1987-1989...my colleague earned 1k per month as a driver delivering goods...if any extra time then he earns 1.2k per month and still need to deduct then cpf at 25%...take home is less than 1k...but he still can afford to marry and live happily...morale of the story...you earn how much you spend how much...as long as healthy and happy...of course back then living standard is low...can still eat chicken rice at SGD 1 and fried noodle at 50cents without much ingredients...
