aiyah..there's so many of us who have spent $ that can buy hundreds of pre-paid card... If it's wife, oso spend $ that can buy thousands. Spending moderately with gf should be tolerable I supposed. No overspend until one runs into debt (and their side amassing gold) -- then it's not wise.

There's so many potential reasons one cud think of: loss h/p, scooters missing, theft, owing people money, build house, younger brother/sis study, apply visa fees, buy new SIM card, hospital charges, etc., etc. Be moderate lor..

The nite show yesterday oso see:
- the man himself has a very young Vn wife - with kid
- that riding bike is helmet-less
- that's what SViet said housing is not cheap either, $200K for his 4-tier unit
on lease for 50-yrs it seems
- crossing rd confidently
- there would be 2nd episode next Sunday 10.30pm telling what 'Pho' is
- gold is 24K type normally, not the 18K or pure-gold
- surprisingly no mention of USD, I tot this denomination is common
- there's quite a few who can speak quite good mandarin
- drink snake wine for strong c*ck!! If u don't your wif/gf will oso press u to drink a bit bit I think!!
- that one can work hard & still make it at Vn (encouragement to those venturing there eh...)

This one not true leh....my gf house is house 5.5m by 40m....one more 8m by 20m....4.5m x 13m ...and last one 8m by 17m....

What Bro Sha Gua said is true. There's no so called FIXED land size. Very often, i find foreigners always mistaken a lot of things about vietnam. Last time when i just settled there, i always mistaken a lot of things about the country, government's policies and also the culture.

Land size is of course dependent on how big u want to buy. My house in HCM City outskirts is 12m x 20m. 3 storeys high with 7 en suite rooms and is just infront of saigon river. Although price is stagnant now, but i do expect it to rise in the future and i will sell it off for a profit.

Anyone watched last night 10.30pm "introductory" show on HCM? Theres this singaporean Mr Tor giving his experience:

- Viet likes gold alot cos gold is more "secure and safe". There can use kilograms of gold to buy and pay for their house. It will be best to give gold as gifts. Goldsmith exchange rate higher than bank.
This is true to a large extend. Viet loves gold. And during last year when Gold prices rose a lot, Viet gold prices was much higher than the world gold prices. I remember my wife was so tempted to sell off some of her gold as she realised that the prices was 40% higher than her purchase price some time back.

- Viet like to drink kopi and if order a cup, must tell them less sugar and milk. Or else very sweet and the milk itself may be more than kopi.
Never experienced the milk more than coffee thingy. Yes, it can be very very sweet but not so sweet till milk more than coffee. I always ask for more milk but never a day in those few years there that milk was more than coffee

- Certain food stuffs cost almost same as singapore. Rice of good grade cost $1 per kg. Dried shrimps $44 per kg.
This is correct. Certain food stuff price around the same as singapore. Actually not just food, a lot of other things also.

- Parking of motorbike cost around 30cents and the ticket must not be lost. Or else have to show prove the bike belong to u.
Sometimes it may cost u more, depending on whether u are foreigner or local and the size of yr bike. My Yamaha Majesty used to cost me 3000VND to park at Benh Thanh market but my wife's sym atila bike just cost her 2000 VND to park at the same place. Once i lost my ticket and they also allow me to take my bike after i bribe them 20,000VND. Last time i saw them charge a SWM US$1 to park his rented bike there

USD can be used there if u want. But normally, i only use USD when i pay for something more expensive. During normal days, i use Vietnam Dong (VND)

Air tickets to Vietnam can be bought anywhere. A few airlines offer direct to HCM City. Singapore Airlines, Tiger Air, Garuda Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar (Starting 25/03/2007). Singapore Airlines and Tigerairways can be bought online with credit cards while others can be bought thru air ticket agent islandwide.

Most of the flights to Vn are around noon time wat. But there are some early flight too. SQ has 2 flights on most of the days. Got one flight in the morning, 9 plus. Tiger airways and garuda around noon time.
