Anyone can tell me how to change my wife thinking from her family to her husband and son, otherwise there would be Hell to pay for me, I've paid for her Brother's Wedding, and Even months later, her Brother's Hospital for giving birth, her sister's son education for two years already, and lot & lots more things which my initial monthly send back was not only $200 per month but double, whereas at that point of time, she is not pregnant yet. So not so much commitment, but most important is I'm just earning not more than $2,000 per month at that time.

Though the monthly allowance is lesser, but i think i have given a lot already, but it is never enough, and very few months, confirm got something would happens. Then the money from my pocket would be gone, which i calculated in total for two years, if i'd save up, i think i can change my Honda Civic to a Old BMW without a loan at all.. Though now is earning much much more than before, but yet money is still not enough. 1 person income for dunno how many people's mouth.

So regret getting married so early, and my son is already 5 months old and I'm not even 28 yet.. So sad, still got a lot time things haven't really enjoy before..
In my opinion, you should give to your MIL and FIL only. Token amount like
S$100 each as a "thank-u' for having brought up your wife. The rest can F.O.
Tell your wife that MIL and FIL are the responsibilities of the bros-in-law & their wives.

Most of the time, the parents also didn't fulfill their duty as parents. Most of the gals fed themselves thru hardwork and even fed their whole family. The parents simply no use, don't have better, no burden and no request for money

Without parents, no ba xa.

Be neutral, u can't blame vietnamese. The older generation went thru wars, no proper education, no proper govt policy, what can we expect from the parents? The newer generation will be better educate, with good govt and they will live better.

We are just lucky that our parents live in SG and our Govt policy applies to a small dot, island.

I have a take on this issue.

To me, it's like a vicious cycle. You cannot really say that the parents didn't do their duty as parents. I believe everybody went through shit to bring their children up till maybe around 16 maybe slightly below till they are able to earn a living and by then the parents will reach the VN "retirement" age.

A common example we see all the time is the VN WL here who have kids back home. They come all way here, take all the shit just to support their kids back home. Bring them up till they are big enough to support themselves and I believe the cycle will repeat itself again.

I believe these gals know what sort of hardship their parents went through to bring them up as well, that's why parents is always their top priority. I can't say if it's good or bad, but that's the values they have. Something which might be even missing in some of our younger generations now??

hahhah, its just like some vietnamese think that they know a lot about singapore. Most singaporeans only visit Vietnam or have Vietnamese ba xa and only visit vietnam sometimes, while some singaporeans stay in vietnam for a few years and do business there, thus understand vietnam more. Vietnamese laugh at singaporeans, singaporeans laugh at vietnamese too.

This I agree but when they put too much pressure on yr gf or wife, you will also heart-pain to see her upset. Then lan lan had to give.

So far I never see any vietnamese claim to or think that they know alot about Singapore....or maybe I meet not alot of viet....but if compare with Singaporean...then more Singaporeans are claiming to know about Vietnam than vietnamese claimed to know about vietnam....

i think the vietnamese crowd that i meet are very much different from yours. I am a businessman and i meet more vietnamese businessman /woman while you mix more with the vietnamese student crowd in singapore. There's a lot of difference between the thinking of a student and that of businessman.
